Providence is calling a RN Cardiac Device to the Providence North Coast Clinic at Providence Seaside Hospital in Hospital, OR. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), day shift position.

We are seeking a RN Cardiac Device - Providence North Coast Clinic that will provides direct quality care for cardiac patients in an out-patient setting. Provides care according to the individualized needs of the patient using the nursing process and in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act. May require the RN to be responsible for the assessment, treatment of care of patients including adult and geriatric. RN must be competent to analyze patient data with an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional/psychosocial, spiritual, and chronological maturation process. Accepts professional development as an integral part of nursing practice. Coordinates patient care activities with other members of the health care team in a collegial relationship.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Reviews patient's medical record and notes pertinent information. Takes vital signs and documents medications and allergies if indicated.
Assesses patient compliance and response to anticoagulants and other medications and adheres to clinic derived protocols. Works to manage complex patients with multiple therapies and make medication adjustments per provider ordered protocols.
Provides clinical and technical assistance to medical assistants, cardiac technicians, and exercise physiologists in performing patient care duties in a multifaceted cardiac care environment that includes multiple sites.
Provides phone advice to upwards of one hundred patient calls a day with clinically related questions using critical thinking and nursing judgment and clinical protocols to provide the best patient outcomes.
Facilitates communication between staff and cardiologists, and other supporting departments involved in patient care that includes post- hospitalization follow-up.
Maintains current, accurate and complete patient record (including, medication lists, allergies, pharmacy and patient contact information).
Coordinates care of Device patients across multiple locations in the cardiology service line.
Interprets data downloaded from heart failure monitoring devices under the supervision of a physician.
Evaluates patient education/knowledge level and provides instruction in relation to medications, disease process, prevention of illness, procedures and follow-up medical care.
Instruct patients in the function of pacemakers, ICD's or Loop Recorders and the use of Home Monitor Equipment when appropriate.
Reviews medication regimens and may make adjustments based on patient assessment and laboratory results per clinic protocol.
Reinforces physician's care plan with patients and family as needed.
Provides specific education related to heart failure, atrial or ventricular arrhythmias, device implant procedures or Ablations when appropriate.
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Evidence of ongoing continuing education
Current license in the State of Oregon as a Registered Nurse
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Three (3) years of direct patient care, preferably in a cardiac setting.
One (1) year of clinical experience in triage principles of patient assessment.
Experience in delegation of nursing responsibilities to licensed and unlicensed personnel within the medical office setting.
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
Certified Cardiac Device Specialist Certification.
Three (3) years of experience in an outpatient cardiac device clinic.
One (1) year of experience with EMR systems.
One (1) year of experience with a Device Database.
