Providence Transportation Service Coordinator in Portland, Oregon


Providence is calling a Transportation Service Coordinator - Transfer Center (0.9 FTE, Variables) to Providence Oregon Regional Shared Services in Portland, OR

This is a Temporary role that will last around six (6) months. There is the possibility of getting extended, but no guarantee.

We are seeking a Transportation Service Coordinator - Transfer Center that will schedule patient transportation with community partners for wheelchair and stretcher transport, Basic Life Support (BLS) transport, Advanced Life Support (ALS) transport and Critical Care transport. The Transportation Service Coordinator continuously monitors for transportation requests from Providence Acute Care Ministries. Daily communication with nursing departments and Care Managers for necessary patient information and updates. With each transportation request that is received, the Coordinator will communicate with the transport companies and provide specific patient information regarding the level of transport requested and necessary details to facilitate a timely, accurate and safe patient transport.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Receive and review transportation requests from participating Providence Acute Care Ministries

  • Communicate with the community transportation partners to coordinate and schedule patient transport based on the level of service identified by the requestor.

  • Attention to detail and accurate communication of patient information when scheduling transport

  • Provide excellent customer service by providing close-loop communication with the transportation requestor to keep them up-to-date on the status of their request

  • Detailed documentation of transportation requests, scheduling and follow-up with requesting facility

  • Escalate to the Transfer Center RN any transports that require prioritization based on the acuity of the patient

  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of staff for problem solving

  • Demonstrate flexibility by readily adapting to different situations to complete work

  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy of all patient information


Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • High School Diploma -OR- GED

  • 1 yearMedical terminology experience

  • 1 yearCustomer service experience

Preferred qualification for this position includes:

  • 1 yearPatient Care experience
