Providence Health & Services Transportation Appointment Specialist in Portland, Oregon


Providence is calling a Transportation Appointment Specialist (0.0 FTE, Days) to Providence ElderPlace Belmont in Portland, OR.

In this position, you will:

  • Be responsible for tracking, scheduling, and maintenance of outside medical specialist referrals for routine or episodic needs of participants for lab, medical specialty, transportation requests, and physician/nurse practitioner orders.

  • Obtain and manage referrals and prior authorizations.

  • Represent the main line of communication with outside medical specialty office staff in coordinating health information and appointments.

  • Be required to review referrals, follow-up and refer to appropriate staff.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 2 years of experience working in an office setting that includes utilizing a computer for data and word processing preferred

  • 1 year of experience with frail or elderly population

  • In compliance with company policy and state regulations, a Department of Human Services (DHS) criminal background check may be required for this position based upon the location of the position. Fingerprinting may be required also.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Experience using an electronic medical health record system

  • Experience working with multiple medical offices coordinating and safeguarding protected health information

  • Experience using transportation scheduling software

  • Working knowledge of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10 )coding
