Providence Health & Services Senior Manager, Design and Construction PSJH in Portland, Oregon


Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Senior Manager, Design and Construction PSJH to our location in Portland, OR.

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Design and Construction PSJH who will be responsible for the deliver of capital projects in support of key regional and system wide initiatives. This role is responsible for leading a project team and ensures that key deliverables and deadlines are met. The senior manager role is distinguished from a construction manager role in the level of complexity of the projects, supervisory responsible for a team based upon portfolio value and risk.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing leadership and management to meet assigned goals for construction projects.

  • Accountable for direct supervision of Design & Construction Managers and Associate Design and Construction Managers as assigned by the Regional Director Design & Construction Management. Assists in the development and training of the design and construction team. If applicable, provides supervision to the Program Support Specialist.

  • Accountable for assisting with the review of the project reports for accuracy and completeness. Leads design & construction manager updates.

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical standards to construction management team.

  • Knowledgeable about applicable codes and jurisdictional requirements.

  • Accountable for developing, reviewing, and maintaining project budgets. Responsible for maintaining project as built cost data.

  • Accountable for providing support to the Regional Director in developing and managing RFP's for architectural and general construction services. This may include the review, scoring, participation in interviews, and the recommendation for award.

  • Facilitates design meetings with architectural and end user teams as well as construction (OAC) meetings.

  • Responsible for leading design meetings with architectural and end user teams.

  • Review design documents for quality, constructability, and ensures compliance with standards and local agency requirements.

  • Facilitates the development of infection control procedures with safety and accreditation teams. Monitors compliance of procedures during construction.

  • Review and approve architectural add services, construction change orders, invoices and construction pay applications.

  • Responsible for overall preconstruction and construction project milestone schedule.

  • Managers architects and general contractors to ensure top quality work is being performed in a timely manner to ensure good stewardship of financial resources.

  • Accountable for clear communication with project venders, engineering, information services, clinical engineering, accreditation, safety teams, local jurisdictions, internal project teams and senior leadership regarding project progress, changes and impacts.

  • Inspect construction progress to ensure conformance to design documents and contractual requirements.

  • Participates in furniture selection meetings, and has oversight for procurement and move in of FF&E.

  • Coordinates internal teams including but not limited to information services, EPIC, clinical engineering, accreditation, safety and physical plant operations as they relate to projects.

  • Accountable for maintaining and property archiving basic administration files relevant to projects.

  • Responsible for final construction project move in and go live. Coordination of moves for internal and external teams as well as the move of employees.

  • Accountable for timely completion by general contractor of the construction punch list.

  • Responsible for compiling external project close out documents for upload into the data management system.

  • Must be able to travel throughout region.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications:

  • 7 years construction management experience.

  • 4 years healthcare specific construction management experience.

  • 3 years supervisory experience of both direct reports and/or vendor management to include third party.

  • Driver's License.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management; Project Management; Business Administration or equivalent education/experience.
