Providence is calling a Senior Manager, Client Systems Engineering – Technology Services to Providence Health & Services in Portland OR, Beaverton OR, Renton WA or Burbank CA.

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Client Systems Engineering – Technology Services to direct the daily activities of an engineering team responsible for designing, developing, and implementing a computing infrastructure that supports all end-user devices within the PH&S system. The scope of activities includes all planning, design, and engineering activities associated with end-user devices (desktops, laptops, thin clients, tablets, mobile devices, etc.) as well as the computing infrastructure to support those devices (System Center Configuration Manager, Symantec End-Point Protection/Encryption, etc.). Additional responsibilities include developing and directing specific engineering programs/projects to support strategic initiatives (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, new operating system deployments, etc.).

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Responsible for designing, engineering, developing, and delivering an information technology infrastructure that supports all end-user devices at PH&S.

  • Responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and integrating emerging technologies into the PH&S environment; responsible for developing engineering standards and policies related to emerging technologies.

  • Responsible for managing the daily activities of support, process, and new project activities for an engineering team and coordinating the utilization of staff needed to assist with other projects.

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of standards and policies for all end-user devices (PCs, thin-clients, tablets, etc.) and Delivery technologies (SCCM, WSUS, MDT, etc.) within the PH&S System.

  • Responsible for assigned departmental functions and activities supporting 7x24 coverage for multiple locations.

  • Responsible to support operational teams by serving as the highest escalation point for technology related issues; takes ownership to conduct Root Cause Analysis and recommend corrective actions to remediate known issues.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Management, Information Services or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • 5 years of Information Services leadership experience (in a healthcare setting preferred).

  • 10 years total relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and manage a team of senior technology engineers in a large geographically dispersed (multi-state) healthcare environment

  • Demonstrated experience of successful design, engineering, and deployment of the following end-user technologies, Desktop operating systems (build, configure, upgrade, etc.), Desktop, thin client, and virtual desktop management tools (SCCM, JAMF, WDM/WCCM, XenDesktop/View, etc.) and Mobile devices (iOS, Android, etc.) and tools to support (XenMobile, MobileIron, Airwatch etc.).

  • Demonstrated ability to create and successfully execute strategic plans for highly complex technical issues.

  • Healthcare information services operations and support.

  • Experience standardizing complex and disparate processes and consolidating multiple teams into a single cohesive team.

  • Methodologies related to technology management such as system deployment, support, and life cycle.

  • Experience in process improvement methodology, change management, operational improvement in complex systems.

  • Must have proven ability to interact at and communicate to all levels of an organization.

  • Organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills and the ability to manage shifting priorities are critical for success in this position.

  • Respected leadership skills, particularly in the areas of information technology, end-user computing, and desktop infrastructure, with detailed knowledge regarding core vendor strategies.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership for the design, engineering, and implementation of technology solutions in support of strategic initiatives with an emphasis on employing solutions that maximize business value.

  • Ability to identify and implement changes and improvements that accomplish long-range objectives.

  • Thorough understanding of current developments and trends in desktop computing, mobile computing, desktop management, and other personal computing devices.

  • Strong vendor and contract management skills and ability to negotiate through challenging situations with both internal and external customers.

  • Broad expertise in information services related to computing infrastructure (including but not limited to desktops, servers, LDAP, and technology management tools).

  • Strong knowledge of current best practices in desktop deployment & management, mobile device deployment & management for iOS, Android, & Windows, and virtual desktop infrastructures.

  • Proactive identification of ways to enhance or improve service delivery to customers and technology standards.

  • Proficiency with operating and capital budgeting tools.

  • Ability to rapidly summarize complex information and present to others.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master’s degree in Information Services, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, or a related IS or healthcare field.
