Providence Health & Services Security Officer in Portland, Oregon

Description:

Providence is calling a Security Officer (0.0 FTE, Rotating/Variable) to Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, OR.

In this position, you will:

  • Receive general direction from the Security Manager, Supervisor or Lead Security Officer.

  • Perform a variety of security protective duties to protect patients, visitors, staff, physicians, property and facilities from accidents, bodily harm, fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.

  • Enforce Providence Health & Services (PH&S) facility and security policies and regulations.

  • Investigate reports of potential criminal conduct against PH&S staff, visitors, staff, and property.

  • Respond and assist in restraining patients, detains individuals when necessary or at the direction of a police officer.

  • Provide protective services to high risk areas.

  • Be required to support any Providence or affiliated organizations within the Oregon Region if need.

Qualifications:

Security Officer 1:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Valid driver's license with good driving record

  • State of Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Private Security Professional Certification or temporary work permit upon start work date

  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certified or obtained within 90 days of hire

  • Experience using personal computer with Microsoft applications

  • 21 years of age

Security Officer 2:

  • Associates Degree (or equivalent) plus 3 years of experience in security or law enforcement -or-

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 5 years of experience in security or law enforcement field

  • Completion of one of the following:

  • Completion of civilian police or reserve academy -or-

  • Healthcare Security Officer Advanced or Supervisor Certification through International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS)

  • Completion of 5 additional FEMA Emergency Management Institute Courses from Security Services Approved Course List

  • FEMA ICS 100.HCB; ICS 200.HCA; and 700.A certification

  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record

  • State of Oregon Department of Public Safety, Standards, and Training (DPSST) Professional Certification or temporary work permit upon start of work date

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified, or obtained within 90 days of hire

  • Experience using personal computer with Microsoft applications

  • Must be 21 years of age

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • College level course work in professionally related fields

  • 1 year of security/law enforcement experience

  • Experience in a healthcare industry
