The Security Officer II receives general direction from the Security Manager, Supervisor or Lead Security Officer. Performs a variety of intermediate level technical security protective duties to protect patients, visitors, staff, physicians, property and facilities from accidents, bodily harm, fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry. Enforces PH&S, facility and security policies and regulations. Investigates reports of potential criminal conduct against PH&S staff, visitors, staff, and property; responds and assists in restraining patients; detains individuals when necessary or at the direction of a police officer; and provides protective services to high risk areas. May be required to support any Providence or affiliated organizations within the Oregon Region.

Required qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree Plus three (3) years of experience in security or law enforcement -OR- equivalent education/experience.

  • Successful completion of one of the following:

  • Certified law enforcement academy, such as corrections, police, reserve or military police or Completion of certified military training; or

  • Healthcare Security Officer Advanced or Supervisor Certification through IAHSS

  • Successful completion of five (5) additional FEMA Emergency Management Institute Courses from Security Services Approved Course List.

  • Experience using personal computer with standard Microsoft applications.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Good driving record.

  • State of Oregon DPSST Professional Certification or temporary work permit upon hire

  • CPR certified, or obtained within ninety (90) days of hire.

  • FEMA ICS 100.HCB; ICS 200.HCA; and 700.A certification.

Preferred qualifications:

  • College level coursework in professionally related fields such as criminal justice, social work, psychology or any social science.

  • Direct patient care experience in a healthcare industry.
