Providence Health & Services RN Coordinator - Utilization Review in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling a RN Coordinator - Utilization Review (0.6 FTE, Evenings) to Providence Portland Medical Center or Providence St. Vincent's Medical Center in Portland, OR.
The UR Coordinator applies concepts of the nursing process, such as identification of disease, facilitation of healing, health promotion, illness prevention and patient care delivery to each task, clinical review and/or quality improvement project. The role is responsible for reviewing all Medicare and Medicaid patients daily for medical necessity using the Interqual criteria.
Successful candidates will need to remain current on CMS utilization requirements to ensure compliance, be collaborative with MDs to ensure all the documented elements for inpatient status are present, and have a great eye for detail.
The UR coordinator will work on a large, collaborative team and will work 2, 12 hour shifts per week (12pm - 12am) and fill in for one weekend/month. This position does also help pitch in on working some holidays.
In this position, you will:
Support the care of the patient through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of appropriate services and resources to maximize optimum outcomes.
Work collaboratively with the multiple disciplines, both internal and external to the organization, in effecting quality and cost-effective management of the patient care along the continuum.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN), -or- a combination of education and applicable experience
Current, unencumbered Oregon state Registered Nurse (RN) license
5 years of clinical experience in an acute adult medical/surgical care setting or 5 years of current Utilization Review or Case Management experience
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Knowledge of Utilization Review
Familiarity with insurance payors
