Providence is calling a Registered Respiratory Therapist (0.0 FTE, Rotating/Variable Shift) to the Providence Child Center in Portland, OR.
About Providence Child Center:
We are the only pediatric skilled nursing facility in the Pacific Northwest, providing 24-hour long-term, short-term, respite and end-of-life care to medically fragile children and young people ranging in age from infancy to 21 years.
When a child has profound disabilities and complex medical needs, providing the necessary round-the-clock care can be exhausting and overwhelming. For four decades, families have turned to the Center for Medically Fragile Children at Providence Child Center. Children at the center receive treatment and education essential to their well-being.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Complete patient care in support of departmental policies, procedures and protocols, provides appropriate, relevant report to the next shift and counseling with physicians and nursing staff including all age related issues
Determine appropriate type of therapy for specific disease states.
Obtain arterial blood samples, performs bedside spirometry tests, performs oxygen saturation testing, and completes ECG testing as assigned
Complete various mechanical life support, Bi-PAP (mask fitting and titration) procedures and pulmonary bronchial hygiene techniques
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy -OR- equivalent education/experience
Licensed by the Oregon Respiratory Therapist Licensing Board as Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP)
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within six (6) months from date of employment for all staff working with the adult acute care patient population
Dept 65802, Center for Medically Fragile Children:
PEAR (Pediatric Early Assessment & Recognition) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required or obtained within 3 months of hire.
