Providence Health & Services Registered Endovascular Radiology Technologist in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling a Registered Endovascular Radiology Technologist to Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. This is a full-time, benefited, evening shift position. Schedule is Monday - Friday, 2:30 - 11:00 p.m. Call is required.
We are seeking a Registered Radiology Technologist Endovascular - Diagnostic Imaging who will perform all duties of a diagnostic imaging technologist (including direct patient care) with expanded responsibilities of overseeing daily operations in the endovascular suite. This includes but is not limited to, operation of the endovascular bi-plane system, contrast injector, IVUS, EKOS & Angiojet. This position has oversight of all aspect of contrast administration. The position utilizes clinical knowledge and judgment in regard to proper positioning factors and radiation dose calibration needed to produce high quality images. Performs all examinations with minimal radiation exposure to patient and operator with ALARA awareness.
Competent in using specialized imaging equipment with all patient types; inpatient, outpatient, emergency, surgical suites and perform complex fluoroscopic procedures following sterile technique protocols including performing imaging studies with portable equipment on hospitalized patients.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Provide high quality images by performing examinations in multiple diagnostic areas, IP, OP, ED, and Surgery including conducting exams at the bedside for critically ill and immobile patients using portable imaging equipment, as well surgical C-arm cases in Surgery, may include performing bone densitometry exams
Perform all exams being mindful of 'ALARA'
Assist the physician in performing endovascular procedures when designated
Accurate patient positioning and selection of radiographic techniques to allow optimal visualization and minimum radiation exposure to patient, physicians, and staff
Operate radiology equipment, determine and set imaging factors, utilizing all relevant factors to ensure accurate and quality images with minimal and acceptable repeat rates
Always provide for safe radiological operations by adhering to radiation protection standard
Use protective lead shielding in accordance with policy
Understand and use appropriate x-ray techniques to provide high quality imaging, while keeping dose exposure to patient and operator as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA)
Presents images and related pertinent patient information to physician for diagnosis
Assist physicians with fluoroscopic and invasive special procedures, setting up sterile procedure trays and working within sterile fields, while completing accurate documentation
Routinely prepares examinations for interpretation to include: correct identification and processing of images, adequate clinical history, proper charging and data entry functions and appropriate previous images for comparison
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement.
Current American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (R) certification
Current Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) as an RTR
Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification
Comprehensive knowledge in all phases of radiologic technology including fluoroscopy, specialized procedures setting up with sterile technique, portable exams and surgical c-arm procedures
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
Ability to recognize radiologic appearance of normal/abnormal anatomical structures
Patient care techniques for the physically and emotionally impaired
Strong observational and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to perform all radiology exams in an expeditious manner
Ability to process and relate information to the Radiologist appropriately
Adapt to fast pace and dynamic workflow and have the ability to prioritize
Effective problem solving techniques related to equipment failures
Completion of pledge to Image Gently/Image Wisely within one month of hire
Computer skills and knowledge of keyboard functionality
Expert knowledge of anatomy and physiology, imaging principles and practices, as well as the ability to obtain high-quality images
Adherence to appropriate professional credentialing practice standards
