Providence Health & Services Regional Director, Heart Program in Portland, Oregon
The Regional Director of the Heart Program is part of the senior leadership team of the Heart and Vascular institute (PHVI). This role oversees PHVI departments that support business analysis, development and planning as well as roles and infrastructure that support quality review and outcomes. The Regional Director helps the Executive Director and Medical Director formulate and execute PHVI strategies. The Regional Director supports business development, research and analytics, business planning and strategic planning for the heart and vascular service line across the state of Oregon. As such, the Regional Heart Program Director will be responsible for key areas, including:
Oversee business development activities, including pro formas, business cases and resourcing and prioritization of projects.
Oversee all construction and campus planning related to PHVI.
Oversee Service Line financials, Analytics and Innovation activities for PHVI.
Balance competing strategic priorities.
Interpret complex business dynamics in an ever-changing healthcare environment.
Engage key stakeholders in programmatic operations.
Strategic direction to implement new technology and balance with investment and capital.
Consultative and distribution of program services statewide.
Navigate a complex organization to harness and leverage resources to support strategies.
The Regional Director, Heart Program will:
Collaborate effectively across programs, hospitals and with all clinical and business divisions to develop and/or enhance programs and service delivery in a coordinated way to best serve patients and community.
Oversee and lead assessment of specific business strategies including community needs, market, and resources required for service line development. Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop business plans for identified projects and oversees project implementation and process of evaluation.
Has direct managerial oversight of multiple departments within PHVI, including Analytics and Business Development. Hire, train, guide, evaluate and provide leadership for director, managers and staff of these departments.
Develop processes for effectively starting or integrating new programs and projects, including forming effective project teams, providing strong communication processes around project implementation, maintaining project deadlines and securing funding.
Lead in the coordination and review of all expansion of physical redesign to facilities. Works closely with facility planners e.g. Destination Center of Excellence Heart Vascular Institute.
Represent heart and vascular services on key committees to formulate strategies and tactics to achieve critical performance improvement in health care delivery.
Participate actively in strategic planning and budget formation with Executive and Medical Director of PHVI. Informs long-range planning. Provide budgetary oversight of numerous PHVI accounts. Guide and oversee capital planning across the service line statewide.
Required education/experience for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Health Care, Business, Economics, or related field
7 years of management or administrative experience in health care, preferably in an integrated health system with an in depth knowledge of healthcare business operations specific to heart and vascular services
Leadership experience overseeing the following areas: Research, Business Development and Data and Analytics
7 years of experience in business development and planning and finance
Solid financial background gained through both operational and business planning experience
Experience in leading multidisciplinary groups, negotiating contracts and fundraising.
