We are seeking a Program Director, Inpatient Rehab Facility - Rehabilitation Services who will be responsible for overseeing all components of the service. Responsible for the administration, management, strategy planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF). Leading with high collaboration through direct and indirect reporting lines to fulfill a highly integrated and high quality IRF service. Additionally, establishes and evaluates IRF medical director contract yearly

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, manage and monitor all services and resources related to IRF

  • Responsible for overall quality and delivery of multidisciplinary care from the IRF.

  • Responsible for the development of all policies and procedures for the programs

  • Ensure that the programs meet all state, local, CARF and JCAHO regulatory standards

  • Develop and submits budget for the programs

  • Develop a good working relationship with the Medical Director and together ensure that the overall care of the patient from pre-admission to discharge is delivered according to industry standards

  • Monitor activities, identifies trends, and takes actions that assess and improve the department’s performance.

  • Management/Supervisory skills

  • Direct departmental Quality Teams or department involved in processes to address process improvements involving patients, employees, other customers, or teams

  • Assure that performance appraisals, coaching, counseling, feedback, and discipline are conducted in concert with policies, values and standards.

  • Continually strives to make productive use of time through careful coordination of department tasks, setting priorities, and reducing nonessential interruptions in order to be responsive to the needs of the department and the Hospital.

  • Actively manage budget through appropriate expenditures, authorized variances, attention to skill mix, and cost containment or revenue generating programs.

  • Develop staff through effective selection, coaching, disciplining, and realistic evaluation of staff’s strengths and opportunities for improvement and growth.

  • Ability to use planning, research, foresight, and facility goals and needs to analyze situations and make decisions without delay while involving all appropriate parties.

  • Manage supply costs through continual review/evaluation of cost effective alternatives, promoting corporate contracted items, and works with employees and staff on appropriate utilization of supplies.

  • Hospital/Department Policies and Procedures:

  • Adhere to hospital and department guidelines and protocols.

  • Support Hospital mission, goals, and objectives.

  • Maintain confidentiality of all aspects regarding caregivers, co-workers, and patients. Treat all information and data with appropriate confidentiality and security

  • Understand concepts of excellence in customer service and conducts duties in positive, customer –friendly manner to all customers of department.


Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Clinical area including nursing, therapies, and/or business

  • Seven (7) years clinical work experience of which 5 years is in a leadership role

  • Current and valid license with appropriate state board as applicable.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Postgraduate degree.

  • Training in IRF-PAI and Rehab PPS, UDS-PRO and FIM.

  • Training in inpatient and outpatient coding, reimbursement and documentation.

  • Three (3) years experience in IRF management
