Providence St Joseph Health (PSJH) is excited to offer the position of Principal Operations Network Engineer. Primary role of this position will be to serve as technical leader working with local area network (LAN) Engineers with focus on design and implementation of a cutting edge standardized enterprise local area network. Strategically working in collaboration with wide area network, security and wireless Engineers alike to ensure LAN goals align with Enterprise Network Services overall goal of transforming current network to a network of the future.
We are seeking Principal Operations Network Engineer PSJH to be responsible for providing guidance and oversight to multiple teams working on numerous projects or developing various forms of technologies, related to any data transmission system. A technical leader who think strategically and have a long-range goal in mind. Responsible for providing thought leadership and Network engineering leadership in the design, development and operations of data transmission infrastructure and services across the Providence St. Joseph Health (PSJH) enterprise. Responsible for the development, creation, distribution and communication of Business, User, Functional, Technical and Operational Requirements used to transform and modernize all PSJH data transmission platforms and services.
Manages all phases of technical data transmission projects. Oversees the solution's or project’s conception, design and initial specifications and manage scheduling, estimating and securing materials which meet the desired outcome of the service. Drafts and executes procurement of transformative technologies, track, modify and steer project progress and keep costs under control using a solid technical governance model. Principal Network Operations Engineers also conduct engineering studies and investigations, and prepare reports for company leadership. Also provide engineering guidance to other departments, helps to train new engineers and keeps abreast of industry trends and issues. As a member of the Technology Engineering and Operations (TEO) division, perform as leaders in virtual teams with IS systems architects, engineers, vendors and non-technical business stakeholders. In addition, the Principal Operations Network Engineer is responsible for the research, evaluation, assessment, documentation and design of end to end network technical solutions for the enterprise in support of the Strategic Plan; providing technical assessment; as well as technical collaboration and guidance within Providence St. Joseph Health. Accountabilities include: establishing best practices for Enterprise network Projects; design and development of product heat maps, leading the selection process of technologies, establishing technical guidance for specific PSJH technologies, leading technical assessments of both planned and implemented technologies. In this position you will:
An independent role responsible for leading the design, development, deployment, and configuration of the complex, multi core, multi datacenter enterprise network technology and solutions which support critical care, clinical systems and business operations. Perform the following primary duties at the various levels.
Lead efforts to transform a multi core, variablly independent and autonomous set of network platforms, services and technologies into a modern,state of the art meshed data transmission service.
Lead highly complex Major Incident resolution activities pertaining to advanced firewall security analysis, Cisco & Juniper routing and switching, data flow and traffic packet analysis, MPLS, LAN, WLAN, VLAN, and WAN technologies.
Ensure expected levels of information security through delivery of operational best practices for network security and remediation.
Research and resolve technical issues and leads problem resolution activities.
Ensure adherence to established Standards, Policies, and Procedures and recommend updates and modifications to network standards, policies and procedures.
Acquire and maintain industry knowledge to improve service delivery.
Communicate technical knowledge with technical and non-technical audiences within Providence St. Joseph Health.
Provide clear, concise and complete communications for change, incident and problem management.
Be available to work outside normal business hours as needed.
Establish infrastructure policies, procedures and standards, including power management, cabling, and IDF/MDFs across all ministries.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or MIS or equivalent educ/experience
8 years IT industry experience supporting production networks in a 24x7 environment
8 years Network IT related experience with a Bachelor’s degree
More than 10 years Network IT related experience without a degree
Current Cisco Certified Infrastructure Engineer (CCIE) certification or equivalent education/experience.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
CISSP certification or equivalent educ/experience
ITIL certification or equivalent educ/experience
