Providence Health & Services Pharmacy Technician 3 Clinical Oncology in Portland, Oregon

Providence is calling a Pharmacy Technician 3 Clinical Oncology - Eastside Oncology Hematology (0.0 FTE, Variable/Rotating) to Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, OR.

We are seeking a Pharmacy Technician 3 Clinical Oncology - Eastside Oncology Hematology that will perform duties relating to the filling and dispensing of unit dose and stock medications from the pharmacy to the nursing units and other ancillary departments in a prompt accurate manner. Prepares and distributes medications, maintaining and purchasing drug inventory, and maintaining the integrity of the Pyxis Profile System. Pharmacy Tech III work under the supervision of a Physician or Registered Pharmacist. Has advanced knowledge and skills in two or more specialty area in the pharmacy

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Prepare sterile IV medications calculating the correct amount required to deliver the prescribed dose, measuring accurately the appropriate dose for volume and concentration of solution necessary

  • Prepare medications (extemporaneous solutions and IV solutions) for batches (cart fill)

  • Fill and deliver medications for both inpatients and outpatients

  • In addition to duties above must be competent and perform at least one of the following tech II duties/responsibilities:

  • Operate as Core Trainer to new hire techs/residents

  • Tech check Tech / Tech Certified

  • Sterile Compounding

  • In addition to duties above, just be competent and perform at least two of the following additional duties/responsibilities:

  • Chemotherapy (Sterile Compounding)

  • Specialty area (e.g., NICU, Critical Care, Surgery, Advanced Triage, etc.)

  • Longitudinal Non-Staff responsibility (e.g., Substitute Buyer, Quality Improvement Efforts, etc. (does not include passive activity e.g., scheduler)

  • Area Leader

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • High School Diploma -OR- Equivalent

  • Current Oregon Board of Pharmacy Technician registration

  • Two (2) years Inpatient practice in an integrated health system

  • Experience with current pharmacy information systems (i.e., EPIC, Pyxis applications)

  • Internal promotion candidate must be competent in all at least two responsibilities from the Tech II. External candidates are required to have the equivalent experience:

  • Central Pharmacy/Principal Duties (as described in job description)

  • Code Cart and Anesthesia Tray Replenishment

  • Conducting unit inspections on-time per facility requirements

  • Pyxis replenishment and returns, CS distribution and documentation

  • Internal promotion candidate must be competent one of the following specialties. External candidates are required to have the equivalent experience:

  • Chemotherapy (Sterile Compounding)

  • Specialty area (e.g., NICU, Critical Care, Surgery, Advanced Triage, etc.)

  • Longitudinal Non-Staff responsibility (e.g., Buyer, Quality Improvement Efforts, etc. (does not include passive activity e.g., Scheduler)

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician program
