Providence Health & Services PBX/Switchboard Operator in Portland, Oregon
Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a PBX/Switchboard Operator (0.8 FTE, Evenings) to Portland Medical Center in Portland, OR.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Receives and processes all external, internal physician's answering service and long distance calls to the facility through a complex multi-line phone system.
Prioritizes calls as need arises and responds appropriately to STAT, Code and other emergency calls.
Operates the public address system which includes paging of physicians, medical personnel and all emergency codes.
Activates pages as requested for physicians, medical personnel and emergency services for codes, emergencies and other needs.
Prepares daily call schedule and duty assignments for various departments using Excel.
Communicates effectively with compassion and sensitivity, anticipating the needs of patients, families, physicians and their office staff, co-workers, supervisors and other hospital departments.
Provides superior customer service through telephone or personal contact that consistently meets and exceeds the expectations of patients, visitors, physicians and PSJH staff.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Graduation from High school or GED equivalent.
Excellent customer service skills.
Keyboarding skills 30 wpm.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Previous hospital or large business switchboard experience.
