Providence is calling a PBX Operator (On Call) to Providence Health & Services in Portland, OR .
The PBX Operator receives and processes all external, internal and long-distance calls to and from the facility within productivity standards. The PBX Operator must communicate effectively with compassion and sensitivity, anticipating the needs of patients, families, physicians and their office staff, co-workers, supervisors and other hospital staff departments.
In this position you will:
Receive and process all external, internal and long-distance calls to and from the facility within productivity standards.
Prioritize calls as need arises and respond appropriately to STAT, Code and other emergency calls.
Operate the public address system, which includes paging of physicians, medical personnel and all emergency codes.
Receive signals from fireboards and initiate proper response, including contacting security, engineering and the fire departments.
Maintain and document duty assignments and on-call schedules for various departments as required. Utilize the schedules to contact on-call personnel as needed for patient care.
Perform key communications role in all disaster and emergency situations.
Required qualifications for this position include:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Call Center or Switchboard experience.
A minimum of six months of experience in a hospital, medical office or related situation.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
Keyboarding skills 40 wpm.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
