Providence is calling a Patient Relations Representative - Outpatient Mental Health (0.0 FTE, Days) to Providence Saint Vincent Medical Center in Portland , OR. Anticipated work schedule will be 8:00am to 4:30pm scheduled all Saturdays with occational days in the week as needed.

We are seeking a Patient Relations Representative - Outpatient Mental Health that will be the first point of contact to patients or visitors in person or by phone. This position plays a key role in maintaining a high level of patient satisfaction by providing exceptional customer service and in addressing patient safety issues that arise with acutely ill psychiatric patients.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Provide excellent customer service and serves as first point of contact to patients or visitors in person or by phone
Demonstrate unique skills to communicate with acutely ill psychiatric patients and de-escalate verbal aggression appropriately
Facilitate communication between patients, providers, clinic staff, internal and external customers to support patient care including completion and submission of Oregon State required reporting and registration for behavioral health patients
Navigate multiple and complex data systems to research and/or record pertinent information in compliance with policies including receiving, preparing and submitting non-EMR clinical documentation to HIM daily
Track documentation until scanned into patient's record
Operate multi-line telephone system; routes calls and responds to general inquiries including responding to psychiatric emergency calls from patients including the threat of suicide
Register patients; updates demographic and insurance information
Make patient appointments and monitors appointment schedules daily including retrieving referrals from EMR and contacting patient to schedule appointments
Check patients in and out of the facility
Collect and processes patient payments
Required qualifications for this position includes:
High School Diploma -OR- GED
One (1) year of customer service experience, -OR-
Successful completion of a Providence internship
Typing skills (minimum of 45 words per minute)
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Windows and Office Applications
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
Coursework/Training: Some college
One (1) year of Medical office or healthcare experience
Basic experience with electronic medical records and/or computerized billing systems
Medical terminology experience
