Providence Health & Services Oncology Social Worker in Portland, Oregon
Providence is seeking an on-call (0.0 FTE) Oncology Social Worker to Providence Portland Medical Center (PPMC) and St. Vincent Medical Center (PSVMC) in Portland, OR.
Receiving a diagnosis of cancer can cause expected and normal emotional distress. Patients may have concerns about how cancer treatment will impact various aspects of their lives and the lives of family and close friends.
The Social Worker partners with the patient and family to help our them fully understand the complexity and choices related to cancer and its effects. Our No. 1 goal is to help them understand treatment options and quality-of-life considerations so that they can make informed decisions.
We offer a variety of services including:
Help in communicating with members of the health care team
Support and referrals for family members
Cancer support groups
Cancer-specific information and referrals
We are looking for culturally competent and compassionate Licensed Clinical Social Workers to provide these supportive services.
This On Call Social Worker will be scheduled Monday-Friday in advance to provide coverage at PPMC and PSVMC as needed.
We hope that this on-call caregiver can cover a maternity leave and work 2-3 days a week for our PPMC location in the short term.
In this position, you will:
Independently provide comprehensive biopsychosocial/spiritual assessment, diagnosis and/or treatment/interventions/advocacy of patients and their support systems.
Incorporate concepts and theories associated with life span development, neurobiology, and behavioral change.
Collaborate with the patient and support system to develop and implement evidence-informed person-centered care plans across the care continuum in collaboration with the Inter/Multi-Disciplinary Team (IDT).
Perform duties in a manner that respects patient self-determination, that reduces health disparities/barriers to care, and adheres to the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) code of ethics, Standards of Practice (SOP), and mission.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Master’s degree in Social Work from a Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited school of social work, or from a school in candidacy status by the CSWE
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with the state of Oregon
Licensure as an Licensed Independent Social Worker (LICSW) in the state of Washington as needed based on work location(s)
2 years of relevant social work experience. May include CSWA experience
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
Current certification as an Oncology Social Worker (OSW-C)
2-3 years of direct oncology social work experience
Group facilitation experience
Mental Health experience
