Providence is calling a Mass Spectrometrist - Medical Research (1.0 FTE, Days) to Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, OR
We are seeking a Mass Spectrometrist - Medical Research that will establish assays and SOPs enabling impact across basic, translational and clinical research by providing expertise for discovery of immunopeptidome, human antibody detection, and metabolomics using patient samples.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Design, optimize, standardize and validate high quality mass spectrometry assays to monitor innate and adaptive immune responses
Maintain a laboratory quality assurance program including establishment and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures for assay performance and laboratory equipment and instrumentation
Collaborate with the laboratory manager and investigators regarding experimental design; data analysis and interpretation; and preparation of grant proposals
Perform research concerning the development and standardization of mass spectrometry assays for innate and adaptive immune responses
Maintain technical currency, identify and assess developing technologies, platforms, reagents, and methods and deploy as appropriate
Ensure data is optimally organized, integrated and accessible to investigators, and that the latest and most appropriate analytic approaches are applied
Conduct operations of the facility within safety guidelines for instrument operation, as well as chemical and biological safety standards
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Bachelor's Degree in appropriate biomedical field
Five (5) years of experience
Experience with LC-MS method development, instrument setup and maintenance.
Experience with the chemical principles underlying proteomic sample preparation including proteolytic digestion and cleanup, off-line fractionation, affinity capture and other methods.
Demonstrated project management experience.
Ability to independently assess situation and make corrective actions
