Providence Manager - Pharmacy Infusion and Operations in Portland, Oregon

Description:

Providence is calling a Manager - Pharmacy Infusion and Operations (1.0 FTE, Days) based at Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, OR.

We are seeking a Manager - Pharmacy Infusion and Operations that will coordinate the daily operational activities of the pharmacy to provide for a well organized and efficient department.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Oversight and management of the daily operational and administrative activities of the assigned pharmacy areas, including management of Oregon region Providence Cancer Institutes (PCI) and infusion pharmacy operations (e.g., PCI Franz Clinic, Westside Clinic, Southeast, Newberg, Arthritis).

  • Manages and supervises pharmacy technicians and/or pharmacists, and support staff. In this capacity, the incumbent interviews and hires personnel, develops performance standards and conducts annual performance appraisals, recommends merit pay increases, and initiates disciplinary action when appropriate. Acts as coach, trainer, advocate and problem solver. Engages in dispute resolution when appropriate.

  • Manages automation and technology including oversight of sterile compounding engineering controls, automated dispensing cabinets, IV room workflow solutions, drug packager, et al.

  • Leads continuous improvement work flow and efficiency initiatives within the region. Evaluates existing programs and practices and makes recommendations for changes to improve services, increase efficiency or maximize available automation, technology, personnel and resources.

  • Manages drug procurement practice and operational component of drug shortages.

  • Responsible for oversight of controlled substance program within the assigned area(s).

  • Responsible for meeting regulatory requirements of operations (e.g., Joint Commission, Board of Pharmacy, 340B, CMS, FDA, DEA).

  • Leads operational departmental quality assurance activities and is responsible for maintaining adherence to USP guidelines.

  • Serves as pharmacy liaison as assigned, for hospital, regional or system based governance councils and committees.

  • Maintains oversight of department timekeeper to ensure appropriate time card submission to payroll.

  • Performs the duties of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician when required. This may include receiving and interpreting new drug orders, entering new orders into the pharmacy computer system, preparing, compounding, labeling and dispensing medications.

  • Maintains professional development, and leads educational activities including precepting, in-services, rounds, etc.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • PharmD -OR- Bachelor's Degree in an accredited College of Pharmacy

  • State licensure as a Pharmacist or ability to obtain licensure prior to employment

  • Valid Oregon Driver's license

  • Four (4) years of Pharmacy experience within a clinic, hospital or health-system (or equivalent experience)

Preferred qualifications for this position includes:

  • Coursework/Training: Completed an ASHP accredited pharmacy residency (e.g,. Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership residency)

  • Human resource, project, and change management experiences

  • Sterile compounding, oncology, and infusion experiences
