Providence Health & Services Lab Courier in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling a Courier (1.0 FTE, Rotating/Variable Shift) to Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, OR.
We are seeking a Courier who will be responsible for routine and STAT deliveries and pick-ups of important freight items for all satellite clinics: confidential reports, interoffice and postal mail, UPS and FEDEX packages, diagnostic images, laboratory specimens, pharmaceuticals and supplies to medical offices, clinics, hospitals and fellow departments in the Providence Health & Services Oregon region. Act as a communication link between offices, clinics, satellites and fellow departments. Responsible for recording, monitoring, and maintaining the temperature ranges for frozen, ambient, incubated, and refrigerated laboratory specimens.
In this position, you will:
Perform scheduled pick-ups in a timely and conscientious manner
Keep accurate and complete information on daily log sheets. Responsible for keeping route notes updated
Ensure that proper specimen storage conditions are maintained during transit to ensure stability of specimens and protect the clinical value of patient results. Record, monitor, and maintain the temperature ranges for frozen, ambient, incubated, and refrigerated laboratory specimens
Make priority STAT pick-ups and deliveries and unscheduled runs as requested, prioritizing workload
Interact with office staff in a professional, helpful and interested manner with emphasis on courtesy, friendliness, promptness and responsiveness
Required qualifications for this position include:
H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
Driver must posses a valid and current operating license
Employee Motor vehicle record must meet department maximum acceptability standards regarding violations/accidents
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Client relations and courier experience
Experience in a healthcare environment
