We are seeking a Hospice and Palliative Care Education Coordinator that will work to improve education and onboarding for all Hospice and Palliative care caregivers. This position works in conjunction with the Hospice & Palliative Care Quality team to ensure Hospice staff meet and complete the required staff competencies and received education on Hospice quality initiatives. Coordinator also represents Hospice in State and Federal audits. Through education and consultation position supports leaders and staff in incorporating High Reliability tools into practice. This position is also responsible for organizing, communicating and coordinating continuing education opportunities for all Hospice caregivers. Position also presents community education for facilities, churches or other community organizations.

MAJOR CHALLENGES:

  • Planning and implementing an individualized orientation for a group of new hires.

  • Working with a broad spectrum of staff.

  • Sharing training resources with other Hospice and Palliative Care branches.

  • Working within a complex system.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Provide overall management of new hire orientation and training for all Hospice and Palliative care employees. This includes assuring all presenters, materials, supplies, rooms and equipment necessary for orienting new hires are available as well as coordinating field training.

  • As a certified High Reliability Instructor, incorporates Highly Reliable practices into caregiver protocols in conjunction with the Quality team.

  • Respond to Hospice Audits in conjunction with Hospice Quality Manager.

  • Create and update Hospice family and patient process training including service provision and financial processing.

  • Act as a leader and resource to all new hires from their hire to transition to field teams.

  • Create and maintain new employee initial competency and education checklist files, obtaining and verifying completeness of the competencies in conjunction with the supervisor and new employee.

  • Work closely with the Hospice Clinical Educators, Hospice Quality Managers and Hospice & Palliative Care Education team to ensure that all orientation materials and existing competencies reflect current policy and practice.

  • Along with the Clinical Educator acts as a resource to preceptors, trainers, supervisors, and managers to support performance coaching and reviews. Advises supervisors of new caregivers concerns and their integration progress.

  • Assist the Clinical Educators and Quality Managers in coordinating ongoing competency documentation for all staff and provides same for audits.

  • Notify staff of upcoming continuing education opportunities and participates in planning and coordinating education offerings.

  • Assist managers and supervisors in evaluating education requests for continuing education.

  • Identify areas for orientation and field process improvement and facilitates efforts to address changes, including providing staff education.

  • Participate in quarterly Hospice and Palliative Care Services Division orientation, ensuring that supervisors are notified of employees required to attend.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications in this position includes:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Valid Driver's license

  • 2 years experience in healthcare environment

  • 3 years Managing training and education programs

  • 3 years experience making multi-media presentations

  • An established record as a strong team player

  • Experience in classroom setting

Preferred qualifications in this position includes:

  • Certified High Reliability Organization Trainer

  • 3 years Hospice administrative experience

  • Experience with skill competencies
