Providence Health Information Specialist Deficiency in Portland, Oregon
Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Health Information Specialist Deficiency to our location in Portland, OR.
We are seeking a Health Information Specialist Deficiency to maintain, update, and facilitate all processes of the Physician Completion function. Respond to outside requests for patient information and confirms authorizations for such requests.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Monitor and update the physician record completion and suspension system. Assists physicians when needed in record completion.
Research and respond to outside requests for patient information, both routine and emergency.
Confirm authorizations for release of information. Maintains daily activity logs.
Telephone reception and appropriately routes incoming calls.
Ensure documents that are dictated get transcribed and to the floors within strict timelines.
Complete master person index merges and corrections.
Maintain discharge and death logs.
Review medical records for compliance with the JCAHO standards and Medical Staff Policies.
Import transcribed documents into the transcription system, following established protocols and researches when necessary.
Audit the main file, incomplete file and “reports pending” files and follows up on problems.
Assign ED physicians sign in/outs and entering in the deficiency monitoring system.
Route scanned chart to appropriate Medical Record department personnel.Performs quality analysis of scanned documents.
Prepare clerical staff schedule.
Serve as computer system super user/trainer.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school diploma or GED
College course work in health information technology or equivalent
3 years of experience in a Health Information Management setting
