Providence Food Service Assistant 2 in Portland, Oregon

Description:

Providence is calling an Assistant Food Service 2 to Providence Saint Vincent Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. This is a part-time (0.6 FTE or 24 hours per week), benefited, variable shift position.

We are seeking a Food Service Assistant 2 who will provide attractive and nutritious meals to patients by timely and accurate delivery of meal trays directly to patients, when Patient Dining Host is unavailable and to Perinatal Patients (PSVMC). Anticipates patient needs at each meal delivery and assures meal expectations are met upon delivery.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Prepares food and portions food items, beverages, garnishes and accompaniments per instruction for patients.

  • Produces/restocks pre-dished food items and beverages according to established par levels and recipes.

  • Places accurate and correct portions of food.

  • Ability to work on feet for duration of the shift and walk long distances repetitively in a timely manner while meeting service time standards.

  • Maintains clean, organized and sanitary work area and equipment according to county, ServSafe and other regulatory agency standards of practice.

  • Uses safe food handling techniques in preparation, service and delivery of all service ware, foods and beverages.

  • Walks long distances repetitively to various locations within the hospital to deliver trays to patient rooms and nursing units, and to retrieve carts in a timely manner according to standard.

  • Uses 2-point patient identification of name and birth date to verify patient identity and ensure patient safety regarding foods to be consumed. If patient is unable to verify verbally, patient wristband will be checked.

  • May assist patients to be ready to eat their meals by setting up patients meal tables without bodily contact with patients.

  • Inspects patient trays upon delivery to assure accuracy of foods and condiments according to meal ticket on tray. Assures trays meet all aesthetic standards of Nutrition Services.

  • Empties tray carts and sorts soiled dishes according to department ware washing procedures. Cleans and sanitizes carts.

  • Continuously practices universal safety precautions and infection control standards and practices in all situations at all times.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • Valid County Health Department Food Handlers Certificate, -OR-

  • Serv Safe Certification is required at the time of hire

  • Serv Safe certification is recommended with in one (1) year of employment.

  • Experience in working in a team environment with common goals

Preferred qualifications for this position includes:

  • One (1) year experience in customer service, patient interactions, and food service

  • Experience in Healthcare -OR- Dietary kitchen using therapeutic diets

  • Six (6) months experience working on assembly line and delivering patient meal trays
