Providence Health & Services Financial Operations Specialist - Hospitalist/Acute Medicine in Portland, Oregon


Providence is calling a Financial Operations Specialist to our Providence Medical Group Finance team supporting our Hospitalist/Acute Medicine Program at the Providence Office Park in Portland, OR.

We are looking for someone with a Financial Analyst background preferably with hospitalist operations or healthcare experience. You will be doing a deep dive into the financial performance of 150 providers spread across our 8 ministries, preparing annual operating budgets, performance to budget analysis and ad hoc reporting.

In this position you will:

  • Participate in a wide variety of financial activities related to the Division, including operations analysis, budgeting, benchmarking, strategic planning, revenue cycle analysis, productivity reporting and physician compensation.

  • Work directly with leadership including regional directors, managers, primary care and specialty clinic managers/physicians to review and monitor financial performance across the state.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, mathematics or related field

  • Experience with spreadsheet, database and statistical software packages

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's degree in in Health Administration or Business Administration

  • 5 years of combined work experience in finance or accounting in healthcare

  • Experience in healthcare finance operations including budgeting, productivity financial reporting and analysis, reimbursement and/or patient accounting, compliance

  • Experience in a large, matrixed organization

  • Actuarial understanding
