Providence Executive Director, RCS Regional Executive Partner - North in Portland, Oregon



The Executive Director of Revenue Cycle Services, Regional Executive Partner – North (EP North), works in collaboration with PSJH leadership to transform revenue cycle into a world-class operation for one of the largest and most innovative health companies in the United States.

This role drives change in a large, highly matrixed organization, leveraging data, analytics and best-in-class technology to deliver revenue uplift. This leader is accountable for achieving revenue cycle performance goals and financial targets, emphasizing stewardship of resources and cost controls as well as driving enhanced revenue yield for the PSJH Northern regions of Washington/Montana, Swedish, Oregon, and Alaska.

Reporting to the Regional EP will be two revenue cycle directors who are specifically focused on one or more of the noted regions.

The Regional EP is responsible for building effective internal partnerships and promoting collaborative relationships with regional leadership and enterprise shared services, including finance, reimbursement, payer contracting, information technology, legal, and compliance. This leader continually evaluates the end-to-end revenue cycle processes to maintain best practice standards and realize service and quality commitments, ensuring that key stakeholders are kept fully informed on performance and important factors influencing it. This leader maintains current knowledge of industry trends and regulatory requirements and has considerable expertise in payer contracts.

The position requires a hands-on, self-motivated individual who thrives in a fast-moving, dynamic environment within a challenging and evolving industry. The Regional EP functions as the RC representative on the local executive leadership committees and serves as the key point of contact for communication between acute ministries and RC. This position partners with Chief Financial Officers, Chief Nursing Officers, and Chief Medical Officers at the system, regional and hospital levels to develop revenue cycle strategy that closely supports the aims of the ministry or market; working closely with senior leadership primarily.

This role is accountable for achieving performance metrics and responsible for sharing timely and critical revenue cycle management information, trends, and opportunities between the assigned ministries and RC leadership. This position is also responsible for providing revenue cycle support as requested by RC leadership to Community Connect, Affiliates, any managed acute facility and the physician and ambulatory enterprises. The Regional EP is responsible for maintaining an open relationship between RC and the reimbursement team, payer contracting, financial planning and analysis and, operational and administrative leadership of the assigned ministries and for assuring that issues raised by the ministries are addressed and resolution is fully communicated. In addition, this position provides local leadership and is a resource/facilitator in the standardization of RC policies and practices.

  • Responsible for performance reporting with accountability for performance metrics with an emphasis on revenue leakage. Telling the story and driving performance.

  • Accountable for denials management and drives process improvements with Regions. Leads denials management committees.

  • These are trusted advisers and field leaders who ensure issues are identified and resolved including crisis management and leading special projects, growth and expansion activity and support RC governance process.

  • SBP are the connection point between regions, rev cycle, shared services to drive system wide performance . SBP are embedded in RC centers of excellence, payer contracting, reimbursement, and regional operations.

  • Future of healthcare is more risk, the Regional EP proactively drives insight of Value Based Care, bundles.

  • The link between work done and revenue recognized. Deep connection to Reimbursement team and finance to create a single storyline for the business . Informs reserve methodology and has a clear picture of what 100% collections looks like. Drives accountability and feedback to improve collections initiatives, specifically payment variances for closed accounts from Epic expected reimbursement compared to actual reimbursement and a full month end analytical report for each region

  • Earn the Business through, responsiveness and proactive interaction with all key stakeholders supported by cross functional responsibility across regions, revenue cycle operations, and critical shared services

  • Informs and partners with data & analytics team to build robust reporting so that the CFOs have the information they need.

  • Overarching responsibility to connect other modalities (Ambulator, Physician Enterprises, HCC, etc.).

  • Represent Revenue Cycle on regional executive leadership committees to help ministries move to common standards and practices, while providing input back to RC on ministry needs for variation and best practice.

  • Establish relationships with chief executives and chief financial officers in assigned markets. Provide revenue cycle guidance during strategic initiative discussions.

  • Point of contact for ministry issues and concerns related to RC. Work with RC leadership to resolve and assure the resolution is communicated timely to the ministry.

  • Regularly update RC leadership on the issues and concerns expressed by the ministries including local ministry strategic plans that may impact RC.

  • Participate in Local Revenue Leadership (LRLC) meetings. Share current ministry issues or initiatives that are relevant to RC.

  • Lead regional growth and expansion work in connection with revenue cycle centers of excellence. Support development and implementation of additional services or new ministries as requested.

  • Engage with ministry or regional planning that would require approval through Growth & Expansion. Provide input related to revenue cycle topics or engage system resources for input in preparation of G&E requests. Attend weekly G&E meetings when relevant to ministry projects.

  • Participate in professional activities and affiliations to maintain knowledge of trends and changes in the health care environment.

  • Consistently demonstrate and incorporate principles of safety and infection control into daily activities as outlined in Environment of Care, Infection Control, and Exposure Control manuals and department safety policies/procedures. Maintains knowledge of work-appropriate aspects of environment of care programs complies with policies and reports unsafe conditions. Successfully completes Environment of Care HealthStream modules in the required timeframes and participates in fire drills and emergency exercises.



Required experience and education for this position include:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, health care administration or equivalent is required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

  • A minimum of eight (8) years of overall experience is required. A minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare administration/operations is required with an emphasis on management, business or account management in a leadership capacity.

  • Ability to uphold the mission of the Sisters of Providence with exceptional professional conduct.

  • Demonstrated excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Proven skills in organizing and planning with demonstrated ability to effectively manage time and achieve results in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proven strong analytical and problem-solving skills including gathering, interpreting and presenting complex data and identifying the most appropriate solutions to business problems.

  • Proven detailed understanding of revenue cycle concepts and issues.

  • A track record in leadership, influencing others and follow through on issues management.

  • Proven ability to operate and adapt in a fast-paced, complex, and dynamic environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to review revenue cycle reports and communicate trends and opportunities for improvement.

  • Demonstrated skills in facilitation, negotiation, meeting management, training, and quality analysis.

  • Track record in taking initiative, working with minimal supervision and being self-directed and highly motivated in all work activities.

  • Evidence of the ability to develop, direct, motivate, and gain commitment of peers and management.

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and professionally in a team environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform in alignment with company mission and values.

  • Proven PC proficiency in MS Windows and Office applications including MS Project.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations.

  • Proven ability to work flexible hours and travel regularly for business.
