Providence Health & Services Director of Nursing - Oncology Program in Portland, Oregon


Providence is calling a Director of Nursing - Oncology Program to Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, OR.

We're looking for a seasoned Director of Oncology to be accountable for the provision and quality of oncology nursing and infusion services at the facility level, in support of Providence Health & Services System, regional goals, and the Cancer Institute. Due to the ongoing research taking place within this facility, this is an internationally renowned oncology center and this opportunity provides the next incumbent to work side by side with our inpatient teams and surgical oncologists to be a big part of providing state of the art care to our patients.

This position is full-time and is located in NE Portland, Oregon at Providence Portland Medical Center.

In this position, you will:

  • Strategically ensure a balance of optimal and efficient patient care; staff, patient, and physician satisfaction; and cooperative partnerships with other organizational departments and professional groups.

  • Be accountable for the leadership and strategic direction for Oregon region inpatient oncology nursing for hospitals and hospital based infusion centers.

  • Provide oversight for Providence Portland Medical Center (PPMC) medical and surgical services operations as the director of the service.

  • Facilitate the standardization of patient centered oncology nursing care.

  • Develop and implement an education model that uses evidence based practice and supports the standards of the cancer programs and regulatory agencies.

  • Develop and maintain support for regional oncology nurses by providing clinical consulting, oncology nursing program development, and providing oversight for oncology nursing quality and outcomes.

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing

  • Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Master's in related field

  • Current unencumbered Oregon Registered Nurse (RN) License

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification

  • 6 years in nursing with experience in progressive leadership roles

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • National Certification from ANA or Professional Organization in Cancer/Oncology services
