Providence Health & Services Director of Diagnostic Imaging in Portland, Oregon


Providence is calling a Director of Diagnostic Imaging to Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. This is a full-time, benefited position.

In this position, you will:

  • Provide leadership, operational, and financial management of Imaging Services, e.g. Radiology, Ultrasound, Computed Tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, and Support Services.

  • Be accountable, in collaboration with the Medical Director, for implementing and managing a model of care and service that supports the acute care site for an integrated delivery system across a continuum of care for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department patients.

  • Be responsible for implementing the necessary quality improvement processes and components to achieve the desired outcomes.

  • Have expertise in developing business plans and implementing growth strategies.

  • Understand that linkages with Providence Medical Group (PMG) and within Ambulatory Services are critical to the success of this position.

  • Assume a leadership role in the Health Systems Diagnostic Imaging Resource Council.

  • Direct daily operations through close interaction with colleagues, staff, physicians, nursing personnel, and medical offices.

  • Be responsible for development and implementation of operations, which are integrated and consistent with the regional delivery system.

  • Provide leadership, management, and direction for all services within Diagnostic Imaging.

  • Direct operational activities of the various Diagnostic Imaging departments at the hospital to achieve goals and objectives.

  • Serve as a catalyst and mentor for motivating productivity, innovation, high employee morale, and commitment to the organization.

  • Develop, monitor, and effectively regulate departmental budgets.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelors degree -or- a combination of education and applicable experience

  • Education in Hospital Administration and Personnel Management

  • Graduate of an American College of Radiation (ACR) Certified Radiologic Technology, Nuclear Medicine, or Ultrasound program

  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)

  • Currently licensed in the State of Oregon by the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA-BLS) certification

  • 5 years experience working as an imaging technologist or sonographer

  • 5-8 years of progressive leadership roles in a Radiology Department required.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Masters degree in Business, Administration, or Radiology
