We are seeking a Dietitian - Weight Loss Services that will educate patients about bariatric surgery, nutrition therapy and self-management in individual or group settings. Produces comprehensive nutritional assessments non-surgical and on preoperative and postoperative patients and captures. Assesses patient's self-care needs and his/her ability to manage the post-operative nutritional needs.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Apply nutrition care process for developing the patient care plan which includes assessing the needs of the patient and family, formulating the educational plan, implementing, evaluation and revisions as needed
Perform and document comprehensive nutritional assessments on preoperative patients
Perform and documents comprehensive postoperative nutritional assessments
Design and provide nutrition education to patients and their families to facilitate behavioral changes and thereby improve nutritional status while promoting weight loss either through surgical or non-surgical intervention
Demonstrate effective teaching skills in a variety of educational settings, including one-on-one instruction and group classes which are age appropriate and culturally relevant
Use motivational interviewing and adult learning theory to facilitate effective groups
Collaborate in the design and implementation of nutrition research/quality improvement projects, education pieces
Participate in group bariatric surgery education classes, teaching nutrition education, physical activity content and other bariatric surgery self-management topics as needed
Assist in the management of department resources such as education materials and retail nutrition products
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Bachelor's Degree/Master's Degree in Food & Nutrition or Dietetics
Completion of an approved American Dietetic Association (ADA) Dietetic Education Program
Current Registered Dietitian and Oregon State Licensure or obtains registration and certification within three (3) months of hire
Two (2) years of Nutrition experience
Experience and comfort with teaching and public speaking
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
Experience with Motivational Interviewing and adult learning theory
Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE)
One (1) years of Nutrition experience in an ambulatory care setting or community health
Bariatric surgery nutritional experience
