Providence Health & Services Data Abstractor in Portland, Oregon


Providence is calling a Data Abstractor (0.3 FTE, Days) to Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, OR. This is a part-time, 12 hour per week schedule, days Monday-Friday. This is a data entry position supporting our research at Providence Brain & Spine Institute. Accuracy of the data is imperative.

In this position, you will:

  • Collect, compile and maintain statistical data on all stroke cases diagnosed and/or treated in assigned hospitals.

  • Prepare information for analysis and dissemination.

  • Assure that the stroke data management functions are in compliance with the GWTG and JCAHO guidelines, that quality issues are addressed and monitored regularly.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • 2 to 3 years data entry, clerical, coding or like experience

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Specialized knowledge of stroke, including its treatments and coding

  • Must be familiar with computer data entry and have basic keyboarding of 35 wpm

  • Ability to communicate with physicians, and hospital professional staff

  • Must have advanced computer data entry experience
