Providence Health & Services Credentialing Coordinator in Portland, Oregon


Providence is calling a Credentialing Coordinator (1.0 FTE, Days) to Providence Groth Building Portland in Portland, OR.

This is an amazing opportunity to join a high-performing, interconnected and collaborative team! The Credentialing Coordinator, under the direction of the Manager of Medical Staff Services, is responsible for accurately obtaining and maintaining critical credentials for the Professional Staff within Providence Health & Services Oregon region. Additionally, you will process applications for time-sensitive initial appointment and biennial re-appointments.

In this role, you will need to have:

  • Experience in effective and professional business communication, both verbally and in writing, with physicians, nurses and office staff.

  • Technical knowledge of automated support system and maintenance of same including database management.

  • Interpersonal skills that convey a positive and supportive attitude with multiple hospital, office and medical staff departments.

  • Solid word processing skills and experience prepping reports.

  • The ability to function in a resourceful and self-directed manner in an autonomous environment.

  • Strong independent judgement and professional integrity when working with highly confidential information.

  • Skills in professional telephone and office reception service.

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 2 years of medical staff credentialing/re-credentialing experience in a setting similar to Providence Health and Services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 2 years experience in processes with progressive responsible experiences to include computerized functions Working knowledge of medical terminology

  • Demonstrated knowledge of office procedures

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Associate Degree

  • Certified Medical Staff Coordinator (CMSC) or Certified Provider Credentialing specialist (CPCS)
