Providence CMA - Center for Medically Fragile Children in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling a Certified Medication Aide to the Center for Medically Fragile Children located at the Providence Child Center in Portland, OR
(0.6 FTE, Nig hts- two 12 hour shifts per week, including every other Friday and Sat night)
We are seeking a CMA that will perform basic nursing tasks and provides accurate medication administration and quality care to the child and maintains a safe environment under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse (RN or LPN). Models expert practice and facilitates orientation to basic resident care for new nursing staff.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Administer non-injectable, oral, gastrostomy tube, rectal or topical medications in a timely manner and document on med/treatment sheet
Follow pain management protocol for each individual child
Administer PRN medications under the supervision of the Team Leader in a timely manner and documents on med/treatment sheet
Complete routine treatments as directed and under the supervision of the Team Leader and record on treatment sheet
Count narcotics at the beginning and end of the shift with another CMA/Licensed staff person to assure accuracy of administration and recording of narcotics, must have licensed nurse witness disposal of narcotics and document on appropriate form
Maintain pharmacy supplies and checking in of medications
Maintain par levels of stock medications and requisitions newly prescribed medications
Clean and stock medication cart on a routine basis
Secure medication room, including locking of cart, refrigerator and cupboards
Remove and dispose medications/narcotics according to policy
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Registered as a CNA-2 and CMA in good standing with the Oregon State Board of Nursing
American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider required.
In compliance with the Oregon Child Care Division, criminal history registration is needed for this position, based on assigned duties
In Compliance with the Department of Human Services (DHS), a criminal background check is needed for this position
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- One (1) year of experience as a CMA in a health care setting.
