Providence is calling a Chief Operating Officer to Providence Medical Group in Portland, OR.
The Chief Operations Officer, Medical Group will provide operational leadership and strategic direction for employed providers in Oregon. The COO will be accountable to lead, develop, and implement long and short range plans for the division. The COO will lead the effort to achieve coordination of care and services for patients and communities served by Providence Health and Services.
A particular focus will be on aligning the workflows of our primary care and specialty providers in support of our vision for an integrated medical neighborhood.
In this position you will:
Provide input to, lead, and implement the medical group strategic long and short-range plans. Attention given to alignment and integration of current regional physician structure.
Develop and implement integration strategies including program development, quality, fiscal management, compliance and clinical management, physician relationships, outcomes management and reimbursement.
Develop and foster effective collaborative business relationships between physician leaders, hospital leadership, system leaders, medical staff and Providence Health Plan. Maintain positive relationships with physician leaders and integrate physicians into decision-making processes.
Assure ongoing efforts and initiatives, focused on assessing and improving quality of patient care consistent our vision of an integrated Medical Neighborhood and with the six Institute of Medicine aims (safe, effective, patient centered, timely, efficient, and equitable).
Participate in the coordination and review of all expansion of physical redesign to facilities. Works closely with facility planners, attends appropriate implementation meetings, equipment and furnishings.
Participate actively in strategic planning and budgetary formation in conjunction with the Chief Executives to ensure strong and focused operational and financial management of the medical group. Works closely with the CEs and CFO in forecasting and preparing annual budget and financial statements.
Demonstrate service excellence and positive interpersonal relations in dealing with others, including patients/families/members, employees, managers, medical staff, volunteers and community members, so that productivity and positive relations are maximized.
Develop networks and relationships with community leaders, board members to enhance the health services provided to individuals and communities.
Work closely with information systems teams to ensure appropriate technological support.
Be responsible for various infrastructure functions as assigned by CEs. May include Board report development.
Provide leadership in the identification of clinical improvement projects and the integration of clinical care services.
Maintain professional affiliations and enhances professional development to keep current in the latest health care trends and development.

Master’s degree in Health and/or Hospital Administration or Business Administration or related field is required.
Minimum of 8-10 years of senior level leadership experience leading medical groups, with experience with both primary care and specially providers preferred. The COO should have personal values compatible with those of Providence Health and Services and be comfortable in leading a Catholic-sponsored organization. Must have evidenced a strong ability to lead teams and maintain positive professional development.
