Providence Health & Services Charge RN - Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling a Charge RN to its Intermediate Care Unit at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, OR. This is a full-time,night shift position. Hours are 7pm-7:30am (3, 12 hour shifts weekly). You will also be asked to participate in the team's weekend rotation.
This unit consists of 12 beds. You will be caring for acutely ill Neuro, General, and Cardiac patients, as this is a step down unit from our Neuro ICU, ICU, and Cardiovascular ICU. RN to patient ratio is 1:3. The most qualified applicants will have at least 1 year of recent experience (within the last year), caring for this patient population and some supervisor or leadership experience.
In this position, you will:
Provide professional, comprehensive nursing care for patients in an acute care environment.
Be responsible for the workflow of the unit under the direction of the unit management team.
Determine unit priorities for assigned timeframe with regard to patient care, patient flow (bed control), staffing and distribution of resources.
Be responsible for ensuring adherence to standards and regulations.
Be accountable for the delivery of coordinated, safe, compassionate, therapeutic, evidence-based quality care to patients and families, based on individual physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, and appropriate care strategies throughout the lifespan.
Practice in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act in the state of employment, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the ANA scope and standards of practice.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Nursing degree/diploma required upon hire
All Registered Nurses (RNs) without a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in nursing must obtain a bachelor’s degree in nursing or higher within 3 years of hire.
An RN with 20 years of RN experience will not be required to obtain a Bachelor's degree in nursing
Unencumbered RN license in Oregon and wherever care is delivered
If RN holds a multistate license through the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), the RN must adhere to the requirements of licensure in the new state(s) of hire.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA) - (BLS Provider), American Red Cross (ARC) - (BLS for Health Care Provider), or Military Training Network (MTN) – (Healthcare Provider) upon hire.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
1 year of experience with like population of hiring unit and demonstrated leadership accomplishments
Demonstrated leadership accomplishments
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's degree in nursing
National Certification related to the department of hire
3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
Charge nurse experience, to include leading teams
Step down Cardiac, Intermediate Care, or Critical Care experience highly preferred
