Cardiac Sonographer - Echocardiology at Providence St Vincent Medical Center

The Cardiac Sonographer will perform cardiac ultrasound examinations according to physician's orders, utilizing a variety of complex ultrasound equipment. Objectively identifies the presence of or absence of disease utilizing a thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Assists physicians with more invasive echocardiography examinations including, but not limited to, Transesophageal echocardiography, Trans-catheter echo guided procedures (location specific), pericardiocentesis, echo guided myocardial biopsies (location specific), contrast enhanced exams, exercise and pharmacological stress echocardiography. Has the ability to modify procedures, to meet special circumstances and/or provide clinically useful information on a cost-effective basis. Will comply with the standards set forth by the American Society of Echocardiography and departmental policies and procedures.

Required qualifications:

  • Registered Noninvasive Cardiovascular Ultrasound Technologist (RCS or RDCS) or registry-eligible

  • Appropriate state licensure

  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification

  • Current driver's license and Dependable transportation

Preferred qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Applied Science, from a CAAHPE accredited school in Noninvasive Cardiovascular Technology, or Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

  • One (1) year experience performing cardiovascular ultrasound examinations, -OR- Minimum of 800 exams using all imaging modalities available

  • Pediatric echocardiography experience

  • Familiarity with imaging support of advanced heart failure patients (mechanical support devices)

  • Experience with echo guided trans-catheter procedures. (St. Vincent Medical Center)
