Providence Health & Services Assessment Intake and Referral Coordinator in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling Assessment, Intake, and Referral (AIR) Coordinator to Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, OR.
Providence Behavioral Health Services offers a comprehensive range of treatments for mental health and substance abuse disorders. Many mental and substance use disorders can be effectively resolved through outpatient programs while others require the safety and security of an inpatient setting.
To optimize our process in placement to the appropriate level of care, our AIR Coordinators are available 24/7/365 to work collaboratively with charge nurses and various caregivers at four of Providence's emergency departments and inpatient psychiatric units and assisting with prior authorizations for behavioral health needs.
We are currently looking to for an additional coordinator to work 24 hours a week (0.6 FTE). The scheduled days of the week alternate weekly - Friday & Saturday / Wednesday & Thursday from 7pm - 7:30am. This shift does come with a shift differential and additional shifts may be available to pick up on occasion.
In this position, you will:
Critically assess the treatment needs of patients, determines the appropriate level of care and secures patient account reimbursement by obtaining complex demographic, insurance and behavioral health clinical information.
Identify behavioral health services requiring insurance verification and initial insurance authorization for treatment and ensures required authorizations are in place.
Communicate all pertinent collateral clinical information to the psychiatrist on call for services, then facilitates the communication/coordination with the unit charge nurse where the respective patient will be placed.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Master’s degree from an accredited school -or- from a school in candidacy status, in a clinical area such as Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or Behavioral Health Rehab
3 years experience working within an Inpatient Acute Behavioral Health environment providing Behavioral Health/psychiatric assessments to patients, -or- equivalent experience providing similar assessment, intake and referral functions for acute psychiatry services
Knowledge in reimbursement of health care accounts from insurance companies
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Oregon license from a recognized state licensing Board, or eligibility for licensure
Experience with payor established level of care criteria
Registrar and third party payor experience
