Providence Principal Service Engineer IS in Oregon


Principal Service Engineer IS - Enterprise Information Services - within Providence footprint of locations (WA, OR, CA, AK, TX, MT, or NM) *hybrid

The Administrative Technologies Service Operations team, together with its Principal Service Engineers, works alongside Software, Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to provide operational services and support for our portfolio through service management frameworks like ITIL, MOF, or DevOps. Technical expertise is required to maintain our systems, which range from data center to Azure resources, as well as third-party SaaS solutions. This includes handling the administration, support, and deployment of SQL, Windows, Azure, and Linux solutions. It is crucial to have an understanding and knowledge of ITIL or other service management frameworks, as well as experience in Support, Incident & Problem Management best practices. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and experienced service engineer to join a growing team and help develop enterprise standards for service management and support delivery in a Healthcare environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree: Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering -or- equivalent educ/experience.

  • 8 years Related experience; more preferred.

  • Strong experience in automation, specifically related to deployment, recovery, or other manual processes.

  • Strong experience with n-tier solutions.

  • Strong experience with resilience modeling (failure mode analysis) and ability to simulate service outages for point solutions (automated) and platforms (manually).

  • Strong experience influencing engineering team members in translating customer and technical requirements into service architecture to meet Quality of Service Expectations.

  • Strong experience leading and representing the Service in backlog discussions and standups to establish appropriate prioritization of Live Site requirements.

  • Strong experience leveraging data and metrics to drive behavior, process, and priority decisions. Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

  • Strong experience in advanced problem solving using systematic procedures and investigating problems utilizing root cause analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Service Management or DevOps frameworks Such as ITIL Foundations, Microsoft Operations Framework, Scrum/Agile

  • Microsoft or other Industry advanced certifications (MCSE, Google, AWS, etc.) with focus on Applications, Data, Cloud, or Infrastructure.

  • Experience with commons tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, Azure DevOps, Microsoft Project, SQL, PowerBI Broad Experience with cloud solutions and supporting SQL, Windows, Azure and SaaS implementations and integrations.

  • Excellent communications and customer service focus preferred.
