Providence Health & Services Surgical Technologist in Newberg, Oregon
Providence is calling a Surgical Technologist to its Surgery team at Providence Newberg Medical Center in Newberg, OR. This is a per diem position. Hours are typically 7am-5:30pm (10 hour shifts). You would be required to pick up standby/call hours as well. This would be approximately 1 call shift per week, which would include a weekend. You will have visibility to available shifts at least 5 weeks in advance, with a finalized schedule 4 weeks in advance.
*You can expect to work about 1-4 shifts per month during a normal month. However, during the summer months you may be able to pick up 2 shifts per week. During fall, you may pick up full-time hours.*
In this position, you will:
Work closely with all members of the surgical team to provide direct patient care in an effort to optimize positive surgical outcomes.
Assist the surgeon and surgical team during the procedure by providing the appropriate sutures, supplies, instruments and equipment.
Maintain proper sterile technique during the procedure.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school diploma or equivalent
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Qualified candidates must possess at least 1 of the following:
Completion of a surgical technologist program accredited by a national accreditation organization -and- holds a current surgical technologist certification issued by a nationally accredited certifying organization for surgical technologists, both approved by the Oregon Health Authority -or-
Completion of a surgical technologist training program in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard of the United States or in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps with 16 hours of continuing education required every 2 years per state regulation -or-
2 years of current surgical technologist experience within a healthcare facility in the United States, or as an employee of an agency or institution of the federal government, in the time frame immediately preceding January 1, 2017 with 16 hours of continuing education required every 2 years per state regulation
New Graduate requirements:
- A recent graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program must obtain a surgical technologist certification issued by a nationally accredited certifying organization for surgical technologists that is approved by the Oregon Health Authority within 12 months of completion of a surgical technologist program
