Providence Health & Services Chaplain in Newberg, Oregon


Providence is calling a Chaplain (0.0 FTE, Rotating/Variable) to Providence Newberg Medical Center in Newberg, OR.

We are seeking a Chaplain that provides spiritual and emotional support, guidance and crisis intervention to patients, their families, guests, volunteers, employees and physicians when called at night & on weekends. Supports the decision-makers with skills in Catholic theological ethics as applied to health care.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Carries the pager for their scheduled shift and responds to traumas, codes, deaths and other emergencies as called.

  • Establishes personal contact with patients and their families:○ Assess emotional and spiritual needs and ministers to those needs.○ Gives appropriate referrals to other disciplines.

  • Display consistent commitment to customer service.

  • Employs learned methods for achieving improved outcomes.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Training in Crisis Management

  • Bereavement training

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Advanced studies in Theology, Philosophy, Divinity or related field

  • Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) experience
