Providence Health & Services Chaplain in Milwaukie, Oregon
Providence is calling a Chaplain, On-Call Pool (0.0 FTE, Rotating/Variable) to Providence Milwaukie Hospital and Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center in Clackamas County.
We are seeking a Chaplain that will provide spiritual and emotional support, guidance, and crisis intervention to patients, their families, guests, volunteers, caregivers, and physicians. Other responsibilities include: ethical decision-making, documenting care and interactions with patients and their families. This position provides services as part of an on-call rotation for both Willamette Falls and Milwaukie Hospitals.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Provide emotional and spiritual care to those who are served by the healthcare system and their family members. Establish in person personal contact with patients and their families:
Assess emotional and spiritual needs, and ministers to those needs
Give appropriate referrals to other disciplines as necessary.Assess emotional and spiritual needs, and ministers to those needs
Document care provided and complete a written report of all calls in the Electronic Health Record (EPIC) according to department standard in a timely manner, but no later than end of each shift
Provide support and guides employees and physicians dealing with issues that arise during the course of their work
Carry a pager and respond to calls concerning traumas, codes, deaths and other emergencies. Return page within 10 minutes, and report to work with 30 minutes of receiving a request
Maintain professional expertise through appropriate educational opportunities
Required qualifications for this position include:
Master's Degree in Theology, Divinity -OR- related field
Certification by National Association of Catholic Chaplains (N.A.C.C.) or Association of Professional Chaplains (A.P.C), or National Association of Jewish Chaplains (N.A.J.C.), Canadian Association of Spiritual Care (C.A.S.C). Certification eligible clinical chaplain candidates will be expected to complete their board certification within two years of hire
Documentation of current ecclesial endorsement or support of sponsoring religious group
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- A minimum of 1 CPE Unit - Clinical Pastoral Education
