We are seeking an Supervisor - Outpatient Rehab Who will manage the daily activities of staff in multiple patient care environments. Monitor services, programs and practices to ensure high quality services are provided to internal and external consumers. Provides skilled discipline service therapy to patients/clients presenting with a wide variety of ages, diagnoses and disabilities. Assist in the development of new programs and services. Participate as a member of the regional Rehab Services management team and supports/guides the accomplishment of targeted regional objectives.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate assigned service discipline staff in multiple patient care environments:

  • Coordinate daily staffing

  • Maximize the utilization of personnel by anticipating fluctuations in volume and work load and altering staffing accordingly

  • Coordinate vacations and staff time off

  • Ensure that time cards are filled out accurately and timely for all personnel within the service area

  • Screen, interview, selectsand hire staff with manager approval

  • Provide orientation for all new staff in the service area utilizing the regional, discipline and site specific rehabilitation orientation checklists

  • Assist staff in gaining sufficient knowledge to complete assigned tasks and provide appropriate treatment. Provide mentoring to staff for additional new learning tasks

  • Ensure/monitor staff completion of PH&S mandatory training

  • Complete the performance evaluations for new employees within the six-month probation period

  • Complete annual performance evaluations on existing employees on time and in conjunction with the manager

  • Counsel employees, oversee employee improvement plans and participate in termination procedures in conjunction with the manager and as indicated and necessary to ensure performance which meets standards

  • Assist therapists in establishing measurable goals of performance for the following year

  • Coordinate and plan staff meetings for assigned service area (meetings to include: regional health system/department communications, review of goals/objectives progress within the service area, staff opportunity to participate in decision-making regarding services and practices, continuing education opportunities for staff, staff recognition activities

  • Ensure coordination and supervision of volunteers working in the service area

  • Ensure coordination of the service area's student program. Supervise the Clinical Student Coordinator

  • Monitor day-to-day services, programs and practices to ensure high quality services are provided to internal and external customers:

  • Responsible for the smooth operation of the day-to-day activities of the clinical service area

  • Monitor productivity of service area and individual staff to ensure proper staffing and equitable distribution of staff work load; Demonstrate the ability to meet the established standards

  • Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers to provide quality service and be responsive to identified needs

  • Recognize service issues and addresses needs through effective problem solving

  • Submit quarterly and other required reports of service activities, individual performance objectives and social accountability reports to manager on time

  • Coordinate in-service presentations to other care professionals and departments to increase understanding of services provided

  • Assist to ensure an optimum quality of work life environment for staff:

  • Provide opportunities for staff involvement in decision-making

  • Recognize staff contributions

  • Encourage staff to recognize the contributions of each other

  • Provide a positive environment which promotes effective team performance

  • Participate in the annual staff satisfaction survey and establishes objectives which speak to needs identified by staff

  • Assist manager in ensuring that the service functions are in compliance with regulations/guidelines set forth by accrediting bodies, payors and professional licensing organizations:

  • Collect and post all current licenses for staff

  • Ensure that treatments provided by supportive personnel are under the supervision of appropriate qualified personnel

  • Monitor staff documentation of treatment rendered and services provided to ensure accurate billing, appropriate treatment, appropriate utilization of resources and outcomes reporting

  • Assist Manager in the development of new programs and services and in ensuring that service functions are efficient and cost effective:

  • Assist manager in establishing goals and objectives for the service area on an annual basis. Ensure that staff participate in this process

  • Assist manager in preparing annual budget; participate in forecasting volumes and capital equipment, supplies, space and staffing needs

  • Participate with the manager in completing quality assurance monitors, quality improvement activities/studies and shares this information with staff

  • Function as an active member of the departmental and regional rehabilitation services management team:

  • Support regional activities through assigned developed team objectives. May act as a coordinator of an objective

  • Maintain effective working relationships with other supervisors, managers and leads to collaborate efforts and fulfill the regional department's Mission and Vision

  • Collaborate with other supervisors and managers regarding continuing education opportunities, shared equipment needs and other activities that lead to regional coordination

  • In collaboration with the manager, establish individual goals, objectives and standards of performance which are reported quarterly

  • Attend all regional rehabilitation management teams meetings and meet regularly with manager

  • Participate in planned community events/public relations activities which promote services, consumer education and prevention

  • Maintain and enhance management/clinical skills through appropriate continuing education programs and conferences

  • Clinical Supervisor's duties will include a portion of patient care, appropriate to the particular situation:

  • Perform duties and functions as noted in applicable staff therapist job description

  • Meet or exceed performance standards for staff therapists


Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • Bachelor's Degree -OR- Master's Degree -OR- Doctorate Degree from an Accredited professional program in the specified discipline service (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech/Language Pathology)

  • Current license to practice in the State of Oregon

  • American Heart Association - Basic Life Support (AHA-BLS) with AED for Healthcare Professionals required within thirty (30) days of hire

  • National Provider Identifier (NPI)

  • Five (5) years experience working as a therapist

  • Two (2) years experience with management and/or leadership responsibilities

Preferred qualifications for this position includes:

  • Membership in the national/state/local professional association

  • Supervisory experience

  • Experience working in a larger organization
