Providence RN House Supervisor *Nights, $12K Hiring Bonus and Relocation Assistance Available* in Medford, Oregon


Providence is calling a RN House Supervisor to its Nursing Administration team at Providence Medford Medical Center in Medford, OR. This is a full-time, night shift position offering hours from 1900-0730 (3, 12 hour shifts per week). Aside from the fantastic benefits package, which begins on your first day of employment, we are also offering a $12K hiring bonus and relocation assistance to all new hire and rehire eligible Caregivers for this role.

We are seeking a RN House Supervisor that will assume responsibility and accountability for operations in all departments for an assigned shift, including representing hospital Administration and Department Directors during their absence.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Maintain professional competency, improve personal strengths in leadership and clinical skills, and develop a plan of self-growth

  • Assume responsibility for own personal continuing education and developmental needs

  • Seek opportunities for on-going education

  • Plan and yearly redefines self-development goals

  • Attend Annual Review and 16 hours of Educational Programs

  • Ensure quality patient care

  • Assist Depart Directors/Nurse Managers in the delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of the appropriateness and quality of patient care

  • Ensure privacy and confidentiality for patients, their families, and medical records

  • Review and follows up on all incidents and complaints on a shift, including documentation

  • Serve as patient advocate

  • Manage assigned personnel

  • Utilize acuity system guidelines or professional association standard to arrange staffing for each nursing unit for on-coming shift, as well as controlling present shift hours

  • Control nursing hours using Medicus guidelines with Department Director/Nurse Manager’s input

  • Plan ahead with staff when it is indicated to send someone home early or float staff to another area

  • Utilize personnel efficiently and effectively

  • Show awareness of continuity of care

  • Carefully arrange staff mix

  • Utilize staff from one area to help fill temporary need elsewhere

  • Provide feedback to department directors on staff performance for all departments

  • Provide timely feedback about work performance of new employees during probationary period to department Director and Clinical Educators

  • Provide active support and guidelines to employees in all departments in the absence of the department Director

  • Respect individual’s privacy when counseling staff members

  • Initiate the progressive disciplinary process as appropriate

  • Identify and address performance problems as they occur

  • Assist Department Director/Nurse Managers with observation, evaluation, or counseling of their assigned personnel by supplying written documented data

  • Support, and assist with, instructional programs:

  • New Providence employees in orientation

  • Students from affiliated teaching program

  • Addressing growth and development needs of clinical staff through support of in-house education programs

  • Serve as a professional role model for all hospital personnel

  • Assist with hiring, promotion, rotation, and termination of Patient Care Services personnel

  • Provide resources, or hands-on clinical instruction or assistance, as necessary

  • Represent hospital Administration and Department Directors during their absence

  • Direct and supervises the medical center effectively in the absence of Administrators and Department Directors

  • Coordinate Disaster Plan, activities according to Plan

  • Authorize trauma diversion of the Emergency Medical system, based on Oregon state standards

  • Correct utilization of hospital or borrowed equipment and supplies

  • Document exceptional, or unsatisfactory work performance by any employee, and directs this information to the appropriate manager or director

  • Investigate and take appropriate disciplinary action for significant violations of PMMC policy

  • Document known facts of incident

  • Suspend employee if necessary

  • Either immediately contact appropriate department Director or assure that knowledge of the incident and steps taken reaches department director(or her/his replacement by following A.M.)

  • Act to fill medication and retrieves medical records under policy/procedures in the absence of regular department personnel

  • Document and communicate any unusual occurrences of problems during a shift to Administration and/or appropriate Department Director

  • Promote cooperative relationships with the public and the media while maintaining patient confidentiality


Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • Current Oregon license as a Registered Nurse

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)/Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

  • Four (4) years clinical experience in acute care nursing

Preferred qualifications for this position includes:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

  • One (1) year in Supervisory experience
