We are seeking a Director Pharmacy SOSA who will plan, organize, coordinate, and direct Pharmacy Department operations to provide for quality pharmaceutical care to patients and staff under the highest professional and regulatory standards. This includes the 340 B program as applicable. Responsible for safe and appropriate drug therapy throughout the organization. Leads departmental strategic planning and provides clinical and operational management of Pharmacy Services. Maintains close working relationship with key medical staff, other hospital managers, and hospital leadership. Actively participates in hospital strategic planning and strongly aligns with organizational goals. Direct reports include Manager of Pharmacy Operations, Manager of Clinical Pharmacy Services and Administrative Assistant.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Participate in development of pharmacy strategic initiatives and execute them within the time-lines established. This include management of 340B Program as applicable
Determine workload requirements and sets expectations for staff to meet the workload demands through effective schedule procedures.
Actively manage departmental and hospital level activities to assure adherence to established standards, procedures, schedules, and protocols.
Develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures. Maintain current policy and procedure manual and is a resource to answer questions regarding correct procedures.
Maintain positive working environment and good rapport with staff and other hospital employees by interacting in a manner that facilitates constructive outcomes.
Provide for an effective, well-trained staff by interviewing, hiring, training, orienting, leading and evaluating the job performance of new and existing personnel.
Provide counsel for employees. Helps to resolve conflicts, authorizes disciplinary action when required; listens to concerns.
Complete yearly performance appraisals, recommending pay changes when appropriate.
Work with management team and department employees to establish yearly goals and objectives.
Continually evaluate existing programs recommending changes or updates to maximize available technology, personnel, and resources.
Coordinate department quality assurance activities. Identifies opportunities for quality improvement and plans, implements, monitors and evaluates programs to improve area of identified need.
Implement pharmacy practices that emphasize and maintain highest standards of patient safety. Co-lead Medication Safety Team and reviews/analyzes medication error/adverse drug events for trends and opportunities for medication therapy optimization.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Graduate from an accredited college of pharmacy.
Three (3) years hospital pharmacy management level experience, which could include Supervisory/Coordinator experience, demonstration of supervisory and administrative ability shown during that period.
Current, or eligible for licensure as a Registered Pharmacist in the state of Oregon. Must obtain license within one year of hire.
Valid Oregon Drivers License.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Advanced degree or Hospital residency training program.
