Providence is callingundergraduate senior level college or university students to Summer internshipopportunities in Hood River, OR.

Preference is given toapplicants who are in the first generation of their families to attend college.For the purposes of these internship opportunities, this is defined as theapplicant's parent/guardian has not earned a Bachelor's degree.

General InternshipDescription:

Interns will be

responsible for completing specifically identified health care or systems

related projects. The projects will be varied and are based on the needs of the

participating departments, health system and communities we serve. Interns will

be provided preceptor support along with clearly defined expectations for

assigned work. Further details regarding exact departmental responsibilities

will be provided after applicant screening process, however the following is where we anticipate there to be an internship opportunity:

  • Marketing: As an intern with Providence Health & Services working in Hood River, you will have the opportunity to experience the work we do for the Rehabilitation and Orthopedics department. Working directly with the Providence Hood River Rehab Manager, the events coordinator, and Public Relations director, a major part of the internship will include helping our team when we do events, such as running a promotional booth when we are working a race or sporting event such as Hood to Coast, bike races, track meets, Kite board competitions, and continuing education events. In addition, you will have the opportunity to help with getting the word out by utilizing social media platforms, sending email announcements, mailers, poster design, etc.

Interns will not be

providing direct patient care.

Internship Details:

Length: One academic quarter/term 10-15 weeks. Maximum of 240

hours (please note, there is no guarantee of a full 240 hours, final

schedule and hours are dependent on internship assignment)

Time Commitment: Be available 2-5 days per week, per term

Work Hours: Dependent on department, business hours are typical.

Less than 20 hours per week.

Pay: $15/hr. Non-benefits eligible.

Start and end dates: June 17-August 30, or once

240 hours have been completed.


This opportunity will remain posted and accept new candidates through the end of day on March 4th. From that time, any candidates who have moved forward and been asked to complete a Hirevue Video interview will have until the end of day on March 10th to complete the interview to be considered, no exceptions will be made.

Required qualificationsfor this position include:

  • High school diploma orequivalent and completion of 3 years of post-secondary education

  • Enrolled in and working towardsa post-secondary education (Bachelor’s degree) or have graduated with aBachelor's degree within the past six months.

Preferred qualificationsfor this position include:

  • Experience working orvolunteering to address health disparities

  • 1 year of customer serviceexperience

  • Proficient with MS Officesoftware programs

  • Medical terminology courseworkexperience
