Providence Health & Services Patient Care Technician (Dialysis Technician) in Hood River, Oregon

Providence is calling a Patient Care Technician to its Dialysis team at Providence Hood River Memorial in Hood River, OR. This is a per diem/on call position. You will have visibility to available shifts at least 5-6 weeks in advance. Schedules are finalized at least 4 weeks in advance.

In this position you will have the option to work 12 hour days, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The shift schedule is 5:30am-6pm. Our per diem Patient Care Techs are required to pick up 4 shifts per month. In this team it is likely that you'd be scheduled to work 1, 12 hour shift per week. When a team member is on vacation or taking a leave of absence, there is opportunity to work up to full time hours (3, 12 hour shifts per week).

In this position, you will:

  • Initiate monitors and discontinue dialysis treatments under the direct supervision of an RN.

  • Perform equipment disinfection dialyzer reprocessing and other technical duties which support the clinical care of the dialysis patient.

  • Perform all duties in a manner which supports the team concept caring and respect reflecting the philosophy of the Dialysis Program Department of Nursing and the Sisters of Providence Mission.

  • Uphold the standards of confidentiality, attendance and punctuality.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High diploma or equivalent

  • Must be state certified and maintain certification by meeting recertification requirements as required by state

  • Complete competency training and demonstrate successful performance of competencies within 3 months of hire (Competencies are described in the Core Curriculum for the Dialysis Technician)

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Post-secondary education beneficial with courses in the sciences and/or psychology

  • 1 year of patient care experience for example: inpatient transportation, CNA paramedical training, phlebotomy, physical therapy, surgery technician
