Providence Health & Services Quality Improvement (QI) Coordinator in Beaverton, Oregon

Description:

Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Quality Improvement (QI) Coordinator to our location in Beaverton, OR.

We are seeking a Quality Improvement (QI) Coordinator to perform activities in five key areas: (1) QI program management, including administration and continuous process improvement. (2) Driving clinical quality improvement activities within the Health Plans provider network, including within Providence Health & Services and other external entities. (3) Internal coordination of clinical quality improvement activities. (4) Support of QI Program administration activities. (5) Medical home maturation and development, including focused or programmatic medical home improvements.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Use QI techniques (e.g., PDSA, lean, 6-sigma, root cause analysis) to lead performance improvement around a measure(s), set of measures, or quality improvement project(s).

  • Serve as content expert on a measure, as assigned. Develop a deep understanding of the quality improvement project, measurement, or specifications around an improvement opportunity(ies) as assigned. This includes:

  • Conduct self-directed investigation/research into the rationale for the measure, technical specifications, numerator and denominator populations affected, measurement agency and frequency.

  • Participate in decisions regarding project design, data collection, data analysis, methodology, and data interpretation.

  • Identify root causes of problems and other perceived barriers.

  • Develop improvements to work through the identified barriers. This includes assisting to resolve systems problems.

  • Evaluate attainment of results and document the summary findings.

  • Communicate with others (internal and external stakeholders) around the measure.

  • Support the organization's quality objective in longer term implementation or improvement initiatives or programs, involving cross functional teams in the health plan and in our delivery system and other network partners. Use project management skills, such as development of timelines, identifying internal/external stakeholders, meeting management (agenda planning, minutes), monitoring deliverables, in-scope, communication/reporting plan.

  • Plan, implement and evaluate population health improvement initiatives identified and prioritized by the organization.

  • Use data as it pertains to an assigned quality improvement project. Be able to explain results. This includes, understanding data limitations such as small denominators, general trending, and identifying special cause variations and discussing outliers.

  • Demonstrate problem solving, leadership, conflict management, and team building skills in order to ensure a productive work environment and achievement of goals. Support the organization's quality objective by demonstrating flexibility, being proactive, displaying positive team behavior, and willingness to accept responsibilities in a changing environment.

  • Perform under minimal supervision with accountability for specific goals/objectives.

  • Actively participate in Quality Improvement team meetings and departmental QMM meetings. Participate in any assigned committees or meetings with a clear understanding of role. Meetings could include internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Master's Degree in Public Health, Public Administration, Health Administration or Management, Adult Education, or a clinically related field or 5 continuous years of experience in healthcare or health plan quality management, quality improvement or project management.

  • Experience in project management, program evaluation, team facilitation, data analysis, and/or medical management.

  • 2 years experience in project coordination/management.

  • 1 year quality management/quality improvement experience.

  • Strong experience in Excel functions, PowerPoint presentation developing, including graph/chart functions within these programs.
