Providence Principal Clinical and Operational Business Intelligence Analyst in Beaverton, Oregon


Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Principal Clinical and Operational Business Intelligence Analyst to our location in Beaverton, OR.

We are seeking a Principal Clinical and Operational Business Intelligence Analyst who will support the development of reporting and analytic solutions for Physician Enterprise and Ambulatory Care Network in alignment with their strategic initiatives. This role will partner with PE/A.C.N. leadership and stakeholders to understand and document clinical and business need requirements, perform data availability and sourcing analysis, provide preliminary data development for both metrics and measures and production dashboard/scorecard and report delivery. This position will partner with Healthcare Intelligence (HI) on data availability, data access, production processing of metrics, creation of data architecture and promotion of data objects into production environments. This role will be expect to serve as a solution architect in the translation of business use cases into detailed plans that outline the necessary activities to deliver final data solution. This position will have the responsibility for mentorship of less experienced analysts in the department and will assist with their understanding of data sources, metric development, and visualization practices.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Provide high level analytic expertise for the development of complex reporting and analytical Business Intelligence (BI) solutions utilizing various tools such as Oracle, Business Objects, Toad, SQL Developer, Tableau, Lumira, and SAP HANA.

  • Work with leaders and stakeholders within PE/ACN to document and translate business and/or clinical requirements into technical data/metric specifications.

  • Provide project support and/or management for reporting & analytics PE/ACN projects and coordination of R&A assigned staffing resources.

  • Support is supplemental to PE/ACN project and program management.

  • Utilization of analytical practices to identify significant data points, improvement opportunities and potential program or data pathways that provide insight for decision making and transformational activities.

  • Provide data visualization to meet business use case requirements as well as data storytelling using (1) data (2) visuals (3) narrative that explains what is happening as well as why a particular insight is important.

  • Partner with Healthcare Intelligence (HI) for data availability for downstream R&A solutions, optimization, production processing and data access.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to other analysts.

  • Strong written and verbal communication both internal to team, business and clinical partners, governance groups, steering committees and HI.

  • Communication should be specific and explain potentially highly-complex data/technical concepts in a way that is understood by non-technical business and clinical partners.

  • Perform collecting, cleaning and consolidation of data for use in downstream solutions.

  • Evaluation of data, both criteria and results of each data component to ensure adherence to original discovery data object.

  • Required understanding of the national best practices for clinical quality and operational metrics and provides support for the efficient and effective specification translation and capture of the information for these metrics.

  • Provides analytical expertise in data quality, improvement opportunities, and understanding of variation in clinical quality and operational metrics.

  • Provide consultative support for Physician Enterprise and Ambulatory Care Network leaders and groups on improvement opportunities for clinical quality and operational metrics.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Public Health, Business Management, Information Services or equivalent education/experience.

  • 8 years experience in healthcare Business Intelligence or related field specific to Business Intelligence.

  • 8 years experience in utilization of reporting and analytic tools and techniques.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Public Health, Business Management, Information Servicess or equivalent education/experience.
