Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Director - Compliance Services & Privacy to our location in Beaverton, OR.
We are seeking a Director - Compliance Services & Privacy to serve as the Privacy Officer for Providence Health Plan and its affiliate organizations. This position is responsible for administering and managing a health plan enterprise-wide Privacy compliance program, including working collaboratively with Security program leaders and staff to proactively identify and mitigate internal and external risks to protected information and the privacy rights of our members.
This position is also responsible for maturing and maintaining a corporate compliance program for the health plan family of companies, consistent with the Office of Inspector General's guidelines for effective compliance programs, operating as an umbrella program for compliance activity for particular lines of business (i.e. Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, Commercial, etc.). In collaboration with other department leaders, the position works to ensure the necessary technical infrastructure is in place and functioning appropriately to support key aspects of the overarching and line-of business compliance programs, such as training applications, policy repositories and governance, and other compliance-related databases. The director is responsible for monitoring and reporting the status of compliance program effectiveness to the Chief Compliance & Risk Officer and preparation of reports for the health plan board.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Serve as Privacy Officer for the health plan family of companies at Providence and maintain an effective privacy compliance program.
Foster and maintain relationships between the health plan and state and federal regulators that have authority over consumer privacy rights.
Maintain and develop subject matter expertise (including staff development) regarding regulatory compliance and public policy concerning privacy rights, and provide education on those subjects through internal tools and communications.
Provide advice and mediation regarding the use of data to ensure member rights are respected while advancing population health needs of the organization.
Maintain an effective, seven-elements focused compliance program for the health plan family of companies at Providence, as an umbrella program for line of business compliance programs (i.e. Medicare, Commercial, etc.) and functional compliance programs (i.e. Fraud, Waste, & Abuse, Privacy).
Coordinate compliance committee and board reporting information for the Chief Compliance & Risk Officer to ensure that line-of-business and functional compliance program matters are clearly communicated through the health plan governance structure.
Improve and maintain the technical infrastructure to support key aspects of the overarching, line-of-business, and functional compliance programs (i.e. training applications, policy repositories, compliance databases, reporting hotlines, etc.).
Enforce standards for written policies and procedures and foster increased utilization in business departments
Develop compliance governance structures to meet changing organizational structures at the direction of the Chief Compliance & Risk Officer.
Monitor and report the status of compliance program effectiveness to the Chief Compliance & Risk Officer, including development of an annual compliance work plan
Responsible for managing staff, including hiring, coaching, development and discipline.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in business Administration, Economics, Healthcare Administration or other related field OR equivalent education/experience.
Five (5) years of demonstrated successful and progressive staff and/or management experience.
Ten (10) or more years of demonstrated successful experience in a compliance, legal, audit, or regulatory role, preferably in a managed care environment.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or related field OR
Health Care Compliance Association certification
