Providence Health & Services Social Worker - Oncology in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling full time (1.0 FTE) and on call (0.0 FTE) Oncology Social Workers to our Providence Cancer Centers at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center (PSVMC) and Providence Portland Medical Center (PPMC) in Portland, OR.
Receiving a diagnosis of cancer can cause expected and normal emotional distress. Patients may have concerns about how cancer treatment will impact various aspects of their lives and the lives of family and close friends. Our team of professional oncology social workers help cancer patients and their families before, during and after treatment.
We offer a variety of services including:
Help in communicating with members of the health care team
Support and referrals for family members
Cancer support groups
Cancer-specific information and referrals
We are looking for culturally competent and compassionate Licensed Clinical Social Workers to provide these supportive services.
Current Openings Include:
Full Time - 1.0 FTE - Monday - Friday, Days at PPMC and PSVMC.
On Call - 0.0 FTE - primarily scheduled for Monday - Fridays in advance to provide coverage at PPMC and PSVMC. This position may also receive some short notice request for coverage but is not obligated to provide coverage.
In this position you will:
Act under direct and continuous supervision, provides comprehensive biopsychosocial/spiritual assessment, diagnosis and/or treatment/interventions/advocacy of patients and their support systems.
Incorporate concepts and theories associated with life span development, neurobiology, and behavioral change.
Collaborate with the patient and support system(s) to develop and implement evidence-informed person-centered care plans across the care continuum in collaboration with the Inter/Multi-Disciplinary Team (IDT).
Perform duties in a manner that respects patient self-determination that reduces health disparities/barriers to care and adheres to the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) code of ethics, Standards of Practice (SOP), and mission.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Master’s degree in Social Work from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Accredited School of Social Work -or- from a school in candidacy status by the CSWE
Temporary Clinical Social Work Associates (CSWA) license, or proof of CSWA initiated within six months of hire
Documentation of an approved supervision plan from the Oregon Board also required
Oncology Social Worker (OSW-C) certification within 3 years of hire
Must obtain LCSW Board licensure within a maximum of 5 years from CSWA application, or date of hire date as a CSWA
2 years of relevant social work experience (May include CSWA experience)
Expertise in goals of care and end of life discussions
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Oncology Social Worker (OSW-C) certification
2-3 years of direct oncology social work experience
Group facilitation experience
